Poll question: What tricks to you expect from Bush to stay in power
Those who think that Bush will simply allow the people of the United States to put Kerry into the Presidency are naive at best. Bush is planning to do what it takes to stay in power.

WHAT DO YOU THINK HE WILL DO?

1. This one's a no brainer
1-4 and then go with 5, with probably a couple more nobody thought of thrown in for good measure.

4. All of the above
He's proven over and over that he has NO morals. He'll lie, we know he is capable of that. He will cheat, with the help of his buddies, rigging the polls already worked for him. What's to stop him? I truly fear what will happen to us if he gets re-elected.

7. repugs will do everything they can to steal the election
we can't count on this being over until its over - can't let up. they will try all dirty, criminal, and illegal tricks. The neo-con media will lie for them and cover their tracks.

it is an uphill battle for us. we can succeed if we challenge everything and remain viligent. we are fighting for America.

and justify it as battling the will of Satan.

9. How's this for a scenario.
First of all, scratch the planted WMD's. Not even the Freepers are going to buy that at this point.

Osama is trotted out right in time for the 911-exploitation fest/Junior coronation in early September. The rest of the campaign proceeds normally, though it's a shit slinging mudfest.

Let's assume Kerry wins in November. Everyone enjoys Thanksgiving and Christmas thinking the problem is solved.

Then on New Years, disaster strikes with a "surprise" terrorist attack.
Bush fraudministration declares martial law and "postpones" the normal transfer of power on January 20.

Actually this scenario seems the most likely when you think about it. Anything happening near the election would be far too obvious. 2 months later, especially if Kerry wins, everyone's guard would be down.

10. Interesting
I hadn't thought of that one. It would make sense if Kerry ran with a general, if Bush is planning that, so that he could get the military to kick Bush out. I'm not a big proponent of Clarke but this is one situation where having him around could come in very handy.

11. The Constitution states in
Edited on Wed May-12-04 10:24 PM by No2W2004
Article <20.>
Section 1. The terms of the President and Vice President shall end at noon on the 20th day of January, and the terms of Senators and Representatives at noon on the 3d day of January, of the years in which such terms would have ended if this article had not been ratified; and the terms of their successors shall then begin

So, wouldn't the military have a major problem as to who the CIC is at 12:01 Jan. 20th? Plus, if the Dems get the Senate back, Shrub would have a pretty rough time after Jan. 3.

I'm not sure about what rights are suspended under martial law...guess I'll have to look that one up, but if the military swears to uphold the constitution, then it seems that they would have to start taking orders from Pres. Kerry even if Shrub does bring down martial law.

EDIT: another question: What are the President-elect's rights?

12. President-elect's rights are to be sworn in on Jan 20
You guys are nuts. None of this is going to happen, except Kerry winning the election. Nobody would support * if he tried something like this. Even a pubbie congress would impeach him before the end of his term on Jan. 20.

13. I'd love to think you're right.
But knowing to what lengths the repugs will go to get and hold onto power, I'm not gonna breathe a sigh of relief until Kerry is sworn in.

14. You left out 'not have an election'

That's the point. If the election happens, then come Jan 20 he's out like bad dishwater..

But, I suspect he'll try to PREVENT the election... as I said elsewhere....

1. We WILL have another 'incident' on the mainland, probaby a dirty bomb (little death, maximum fear)
2. Everything goes to 'Code Red' (look it up.. you stay home or get shot).
3. Presidental Directive declaring a 'national emergency', effectively suspending the constition and therefor the elections.
4. A new 'incident' every few weeks to keep it at code red and we never get to vote...

or i start to go mad. even if our man wins, we are still fucked with all these millions of idiots running around. he could easily turn his most fervent supporters on we liberals. wacky things like that have happened all through history, and some very recently.
