Another Freeper myth debunked
The statement :"No one could have imagined someone would fly planes into buildings" or "No one could have seen that the terrorist would use our own planes as wepons."

I was reading Richard Clarke's book and he was recalling a meeting his counterterrorism group was having with the people in charge of the 1996 Olympics. He asked what would happen if someone hijacked a plane and blew it up over the olympic stadium or decided to just crash it into the stadium. An FBI offical stated that it sounded like something out of Tom Clancy, but it would be an FAA problem. As it turned out, once a plane was airborne, nothing could be done as by the time the Air Force would be there to intercept, it would be too late.. The only solution was to prevent the planes from being hijacked in the first place. This was in 1994

So, the reliable facts so far are:

The Government was fully aware Al-Queda wanted to use planes as bombs.

The Government was fully aware that Al-Queda wanted to strike within the U.S.

In August 2001, the Government knew something "big" would happen soon.

The Government under the Bush Administration failed to do anything to stop it.
