I just read in Salon that Evan Bayh is given 8-1 odds of getting VP offer.
Could anyone please tell me exactly where the man stands on the issue of Choice.

I read somewhere that he was anti-choice and I would be so upset if
John Kerry chose such a person to be his running mate. It would be
a slap in the face for women everywhere.

If he is pro-choice, he would probably be an OK candidate as he might be able to do some good in Indiana. (I think that's his state.)

1. NO... PLEASE NO...If people thought Gore was stiff and undemonstrative
and with Kerry still learning the ropes of "warmth" WHY would he choose somebody like this person? I have seen him in "action" in quotes because he is the blandest pablum I have ever seen.

9. I hope so
I think Edwards would be the best VP. He is very charismatic and really knows how to reach out to swing voters. Bill Richardson I think would be a good nominee to, for the hispanic vote, but I think Edwards has more of a broad appeal.

3. I really hope not
He's boirng as hell, and the Left (especially here) would go into open rebellion. I'm not really interested in having to suppress another rebellion from the Left flank. Remember JFK, the Naderities are watching, and they are VERY hard to please.

5. If Kerry wants Nader to get 8-10% of the vote, then he'll choose Bayh

4. He votes 75% of the time WITH the Republicans.
If Kerry gives him the nod he will have effectively Gore'd himself in the foot.

6. Nooooooooooo
WTF is Kerry thinking? Bayh?! Even dems don't know this guy. If Kerry doesn't pick Edwards, then his campign will be in critical condition. That's terrible news. Awful. We need CHARISMA people. Edwards has it - Kerry, Bayh, and even Clark don't.

22. Bayh is DLC all the way
I hold him and MacAuliffe responsible for Dean's demise. Push to shove, I don't know if I could pull the lever for Bayh. Its beginning to seem to me that whether its B*/C* or Kerry , its still war as far as the eye can see.

12. Specifically on this issue ...
He's voted to ban late-term abortions every time it's come up. While it's not fair to say he's completely anti-choice -- he didn't vote to ban the procedure on military bases outside the U.S. -- I don't think you could call him pro-choice, either.

Here's a page that has some information on his general tenor as a legislator:

21. Maybe we should just cancel the election
and sign up for another 4 years of Bush. The Dems aren't an opposition party, they're a bunch of stage managed, poll watching, compromising, tutu-wearing losers. None of the potential candidates has expressed a coherent and strongly felt principle about anything of importance. They're afraid Tom Delay will ridicule them and hurt their feelings. Makes me ashamed, and sends me back to the Democracy for America website, so I can remember how good it felt to BELIEVE in a candidate who BELIEVED in something.

19. Please, God, No!!
He is too much an establishment man for me. I think he would be a drag on the ticket. I am voting for John Kerry because the other option is Bush. I was hoping that we would get someone a little more interesting for VP.

20. I don't know about Bayh, but
so far we have lost at least three Senate seats with Kerry. Edwards, and Graham so we don't need to lose another.

24. If Bayh would get the nod,
ya might as well dig up the Duke and put him in the veep slot. If Kerry actually wants to win this thing, he's got two choices; Edwards or Clark.

If Kerry wants Nader to get 10%, he'll pick a PNACer like Bayh or Holy Joe to be on the ticket with him.
