Pat Robertson's unChristian comments on Iraqi prisoners
Edited on Thu May-13-04 01:37 PM by phoebe
On his broadcast yesterday - a direct quote
"UN program is a major scandal. Much more than a bunch of prisoners in prison."
Also - " world's obsession with the treatment of prisoners has obscured how Saddam collected billions in oil revenues from the UN oil for food program." (paraphrased here)

He also referred to Najaf's "so-called religious sites" while advocating turning off the water and electricity in Iraq to let the Iraqis swelter in the sun. He also wanted the Palestinians in the Gaza strip to have no access to water or electricity after the deaths of Israeli soldiers promising "good things will come" - whatever the H that means..???

More interesting was his "interview" with Claudia Rossett, formerly on the editorial board of the Wall Street Journal and senior fellow for the Foundation for the Defense of Democracy which just happens to have Richard Perle on its Board of Advisors, along with such notables as Gary Bauer and Charles Krauthammer, amongst others.

His "interview" on the corrupt oil for food program

The mission of the Foundation reads in part:

Non-profit and non-partisan, FDD promotes informed debate about policies and positions that will most effectively eradicate the scourge of international terrorism.

In addition, FDD works to improve education about democracies, and to help promote democracy in troubled regions around the globe.

1. Any thoughts? Yeah.
Pat Robertson is out of touch with reality -- the reality we live here on earth.

3. In Pat's defense...
he has to be legally insane. How else could someone spout off that crap, live the lie that is his personal life, and then face himself in the mirror without killing himself. Pat needs our help in the form of a room with padded walls.

4. I heard the surround and cut the water of rhetoric yesterday...
I make it a point to watch the first 10 minutes of his show for the "news" the same way I listen to El Drugbo at times. Yea he is just as nutty as all the RW pundits except he hides it in religion. If you watch his show the way I do, watch it over the internet and take up some of his bandwith. Why watch if for free on cable when you can do it on his tab.

9. He might be right about the oil for food anyway, but
I wonder who he was selling it to?

"A source in the intelligence community tells me that the U.N. oil embargo of Saddam Hussein was worthless because Iraqi oil was being shipped all these years to a Caribbean island called St. Eustatius, unloaded into onshore tanks and then reloaded into U.S.-bound tanker ships.

The same switcheroo is being done with Iranian oil, I'm told.

Oh, and the source says Washington would rather nobody know about this. "

20. There may be some truth to the corruption in the oil for food program
however, Mr. Robertson's information source - ie the FDD - is highly suspect considering its members, its financing and its agenda.

The title "Foundation for Defense of Democracies" is shameful propaganda. I just wish more people would open their eyes to this kind of simple manipulation.

Robertson is just another Christian Khomeni, or as I like to refer to his kind of drooling death-worshippers here in Texas, the "Texiban."

You can always count on this individual to come out with the lowest, meanest comments imaginable... surprising only in that he isn't able to come up with anything better than "but Saddam..."
