I hope the devastating overseas news and the disastrous Bush polls don't cast a pall over this big event. :-)

ALEXANDRIA, VA – The White House and American Conservative Union Chairman David A. Keene announced that President George W. Bush will deliver the keynote address for ACU’s 40th Anniversary Gala on Thursday, May 13, 2004 at the JW Marriott Hotel in Washington, DC.
"It is truly a great honor to have President Bush address what will surely be a milestone event in the history of our conservative movement," said Keene. "I am certain that those conservatives who were there at ACU’s inception -- and the younger activists the movement has welcomed over the years -- will warmly receive the President's conservative message of providing for our national defense, working toward limited and more efficient government and preserving our national sovereignty."
Banquet co-chairmen include former Sen. Jesse Helms, Sen. Rick Santorum, Sen. George Allen, Sen. Mitch McConnell, Gov. Jim Gilmore, Phyllis Schlafly, Congressmen Phil Crane and John Shadegg, Michael Reagan, and Charlie Black.
