Powell's Silence?
So - where is Powell? Seems to have vanished.

1. He knows something.
We just have to wait until State leaks it.

2. I have been wondering the same thing.
He is going to Jordan within a week, yes?
I wonder if he will find out some other disturbing revelations while out of the country.

I sometimes think there are two possibilities:

A.) He has been absolutely muzzled by the Bush Administration, and has chosen to slog along as the (deluded) good solder; or
B.) he is getting ready to jump ship; resign and launch a barrage against the fuggin' neofascists controling Bush.

I hope it's the latter.

MF

hey, welcome to Dem. Underground. Hang onto your hat; it's getting bumpy.

3. Powell is laying low to try to salvage....
Edited on Thu May-13-04 06:56 PM by nomaco-10
what's left of any credibility and respect he may have ever had.

Like Clinton who had eight wildly successful years in the White House making policies and creating one of the largest surplus' in history, he will still always be thought of as the president that got a hummer in the Oval office by that fat girl. Powell's legacy will be that of him pleading his case and holding up a small glass vial trying to convince the rest of the world that Saddam had WMD. History can be very unkind, but Powell brought it on himself. He knew exactly who he was dealing with when he accepted his post from the cabal.

6. Bowell is and has always been a self-serving opportunist
He deserves none of our respect for who he was and what he did, even prior to the UN episode.

That just exposed him for all to see.

5. Given that Gore would also (likely) have made Powel Sec. of State,

one has to wonder if he thinks about that lost opportunity. The worst that would likely have happened under a Gore administration might well have been that things stayed sort of status quo (not saying that Gore might not have pursued progressive international (peaceful) policy, but rather, that that probably would have been the worst case scenario). By contrast, Powell, under Bush, will forever be remembered as the lying enabling "soldier," who allowed Bush to take this nation into an unjust war.

some "borderless" visa program for 2 years because the machinery in place for the countries to come on board during the current time table isn't going to be able to do the task in the allotted time. It has to do with cutting down on folks applying at embassies in their countries and having to wait... I think..

whatever he was talking about, it wasn't about Iraq.
