I'm in shock.

I don't understand a lot of things.

4. A list of flaws
The sound does not match the image.

There are obvious edits.

The attackers change between the edits.

The body language of the attackers is not consistant with middle eastern Arabs, it is more in common with western body language.

There is a distinct absense of blood(according to a doctor).

The lead attacker is wearing a gold ring. This is forbidden in Islamic belief.

The accent of the supposed Jordanian reader is not Jordanian (according to a CNN translator).

5. Yeah, I heard about a few of these
Like the audio and the lack of blood. You did bring up some interesting facts like the body language and the ring. I will have to check it out.

8. I posted a link to a website featuring Islamic rings
in another thread.

Body language is universal. Everybody fidgets.

11. No
Different cultures have distinct body language. Some are influenced by environment and some by tradition. Western civilization is notable for its excessive exposure to television. The rapid editing and switching bring about an increased rate of ADHD. The behaviour of the "fidgety" attackers is consistant with ADHD.

Within intense religious communities extended prayer/chant sessions teach the participants to focus their attention. Excess motion is seen as a distraction. It is a sign of respect to remain still while a leader is speaking.

This is of course not conclusive. But it is suggestive. Combined with other anamolies it begins to create a picture.

7. No Russian
My partner speaks fluent Arabic. The entire video was in Arabic.

9. The supposed Russian
was said in the background between two of the attackers. It was not part of the document read. I cannot verify this particular claim but this is what is being reported in some Russian boards. They suspect Chechnian (sp) involvement.

12. Dang! I thought I heard some Russian, then wrote it off as a fluke
It's not a video I want to watch often, so I haven't reviewed it since the first viewing, but I was thinking, "that background conversation sounds an awful lot like Russian; maybe just a chance similarity to Arabic."

13. Yes, I read your thread
I'm agnostic, I don't have a hard investment in any interpretation of the evidence. Russians are hearing not just phrases, but Russian accents. Your partner hears only Arabic. I'm the clueless in the middle who doesn't know which is more likely correct.

Hey, while you're here, could you ask your partner if he/she agrees with the CNN translator -- that the reference to Al Qaeda is a mistranslation and that the dialect/accent of the speaker is not Jordanian?

10. The accent is Persian Arabic
Which is common in the region.
