Can people throw out some interesting alternative news websites

that I might not know about. I haven't really found one that's both extensive and updated alot and also consistent in interesting and not alot of stupid propaganda stuff.

I hit smirking chimp every day... it's a newsy linking site, kind of like buzzflash and truthout. The best thing about SC is the low-bandwidth, text-only options for reading the stories -- good for us still mired at 56k.

I'm aware of almost all of those and the problem I have with most of them is that I do consider most of those to be either pretty offensive fringe(the LIHOP/Israel hatred etc) or pretty propagandic whether for those fringe causes or for the DNC dem party line(Buzzflash). I don't want a source who seems to only care about either smearing the republican party or smearing America and Israel.

I'm looking for something that is not mainstream but also not fringe. I sort of have to look at blogs to find that kind of stuff and those opinions but that is too time consuming.

I'm a third way dem but also anti-establishment, and anti party-mindedness. There never seems to be anything I don't get bored with because of predictableness or sort of mildly offended by because of some huge extremist slant.
