2. I voted don't bother
and not only because the GOP would never allow it, but also because it is too late anyway.

Only a few more months and Bush can be kicked out of office the old fashioned way.

3. but I also

think the humiliation of being impeached as a lame-duck would be fitting.

edit: not that this would happen but
at least that is a juicy fantasy of mine, followed by a march to the war crimes trials.

6. Failing to press for impeachment, however unlikely,
is a failure of American democracy.

No (p)resident has been more deserving of the shame. To say it's not worth trying shames America.

7. I think it reflects very poorly
on us in the eyes of the world, who also had to endure the endless press given to Clinton's impeachment, to let a 'selected' president literally get away with murder.

8. Junior's a temp; IMPEACH SCALIA
I'm serious about this one. Think of all the "loophole" maneuvers that the right has used in the last few years; it's time we not only fired a shot across their bow, but sank one of their galleons.

It's important that the reactionaries learn that they can't just bludgeon their way through life.

Don't waste time on Bush. If he gets reinstalled with a Democratic House, maybe it'll be worth it, but we're still going to need a the Senate to do him in.

10. Articles of impeachment.
So how, specifically, would you guys suggest that articles of impeachment be worded, keeping in mind that you'd probably have to cite specific actions? (rather than generalities)

Keep the Clinton impeachment in mind - the republicans wanted to impeach him from the beginning, but were only able to do so when they figured out that he probably did, in fact, perjure himself in a very specific instance.

12. I'm not an expert on impeachment
Edited on Fri May-14-04 07:02 PM by G_j
though I watched or listened to a great deal of Watergate and Clinton's impeachment hearings. It seems to me besides more specific allegations there is a very sound case for criminal negligence. That would cover claiming he "didn't know" about anything and everything. There should be a point where "not knowing" becomes criminal negligence. Of course on 9-11 he can't claim that, we know that he was told we were under attack and just sat there.

Can anyone shed light on this? Can criminal negligence be a specific charge in impeachment?

13. I was just thinking about that today ....
.... about RICO, criminal conspiracy, citizen's arrests, etc.

As far as impeaching him goes, I voted "no" because he might regain some sympathy/support he's lost. We get to "impeach" him in November. Get that evil motherfucker outta there!

15. TOTALLY against it,
it's a waste of time, a distraction from the election, it will never happen with the repukes in control, it will only cause repukes to 'circle the wagons' etc., etc., etc. It's best just to get on with defeating him and getting Kerry in. IF he gets Selected again I would certainly be for impeaching him.
