Have all the MA folks heard
who Romney's "role model" is for a new BU president?? Huh?? Huh??

Why, that model of corporate fairness and propriety, Jack Welch!

Yes, that Jack Welch - Former General Electric CEO Jack Welch!

Now, mind you, he didn't say he wanted Jack as president, but evidently Welch has all the virtues and qualifications for the job, and whoever is named should emulate him.

'Course, Bulger's separation package is outrageous. The board should probably have emulated G.E. on that too....Hmmm?

1. Corporatization of Massachusetts
This guy makes my skin crawl...

He has played race and class politics since the campaign. Calling Shannon O'Brien 'shrill', showing his anti-Irish streak, and refusing to raise taxes in the face of budget cuts that hurt the poorest Mass. residents. And what about the incident with the Lawrence school superintendent? Romnet said he wasn't concerned that the guy couldn't pass a literacy test that the teachers have to pass or be fired! Jeez!

2. glad I went from the frying pan into the fire
I expected more from Mass than I do from my current home: I already knew what Bush* did to Texas and had no illusions.
Romney was a horror show from the beginning and I hope that those who supported him---like my brother in law who found out the hard way that the administration cares zero about people like him!---are happy with their "good looking family man!"

Oh, and on Lawrence? Guess "character counts" trumps literacy everytime, eh?

3. Showing an anti-Irish streak in MA?
Wouldn't that be political suicide? Jeez Louise, how stupid can the GOP get? Never mind, don't answer that, our Boy King Impostor in the WH is the perfect example.

4. Crawling skin
is a very good description of what I feel every time I look at that smug, holier-than-thou smirk. I swear, I think his smirk is even more insidious than the (not a)moron-in-chief's.

The incident with the Lawrence school superintendent is just another typical example of the hypocracy this man is made of. Fire the teachers, keep their boss...after all, why does the superintendent need to possess the same standards required of the teachers?

Um....how about EXAMPLE, Governor? How about RESPONSIBILITY?

Did this guy work on your campaign, of just contribute?

Hypocrite!

5. Do you mean UMASS?
Because Bulger was president of UMASS-Amherst, not BU.

6. Well, elect a Repuke, get Repukism.
No surprise there.

I've been pleasantly surprised at the good job Bulger has done for UMass. Romney's been a real prick about the whole thing. It'll be tough to get anyone to take the job of President of the state U. in a state where they kick the shit out of their university every time there's a recession.

Whaddya think, will Governor Carpetbagger stay in office longer than the last two Repuke govs? (They both got tired of it after three years or so and split.)

16. Well, after the big deal made of it during the election,
and his outright PROMISE he would serve his full four year term, I think he won't be able to do anything else...Any credibility at all that he may build up will be completely eradicated if he does not.

10. Jack Welch?
You mean, the guy who welched on his wife (i.e. adultery)?

Granted, I believe in redemption. But let's not get too carried away with the "role model" stuff. And what's with the CEO cult worship? I think the leaders of Doctors Without Borders and Save the Children are far more important.

13. What really pissed me off about the Umass presidency thing
Is that Romney's whole campaign against Bulger started when he wanted to ELIMINATE the post in a budget move. Well now Bulger has resigned...and Romney is looking to appoint some new political crony. Just as Umass was starting to lose it's reputation as ZooMass. Gee Mitt. Could it have been your goal all along to simply oust Bulger? Hmm now you wanto to appoint one your cronies to the position? There's a shock huh? Republicans piss me off. The hypocrisy just seems to know no bounds. I wonder how long before he proposes privatization of the University?

17. UMASS will be private
soon. Romney will install a buddy in the Presidents office and stack the administration with his cronies. So much for access to a college education for the working class.

19. But if the middle class,
especially the lower middle class go to college, who will actually do all those "little people" jobs Mitt played at doing during the campaign?

On whose backs will the budget be balanced?

On whom will the Mitts of the world blame all the problems?

WHOSE FAULT WILL IT BE?

20. WHAT!
GE is hardly a model company: they're famous for shipping real jobs overseas and to Mexico (and those of their subcontractors) along with plenty of fraudulent accounting. Add that to Welch's infamous greed and adulterous life and you hardly have someone who's fit to lead an educational institution. I wouldn't let the f*cker shine my shoes. :puke:

Where was this posted? It's not Boston.com or bostonherald.com where these things usually pop up. While I'm not sad to see Bulger go, the level of payoff for him is disgusting. Universities are slowly being corrupted by creeping corporatization. Other schools in MA aren't exempt - BU is a great place for this (so Noam Chomsky told me once, and note the purpose of the Photonics Center), and Northeastern built a "Technology Transfer Center" to try to capitalize on corporate cash a few years ago.
