the problems with Catholicism from a CO religious right forum
For those interested - those who have wondered....

This is from a forum run by the college student ministry group at New Life Church in Colorado Church, CO (a religious right church).

1. Trash like this...
makes you realize the Catholic Church does have its good points.

2. As a Catholic...
I clicked on the link half expecting to hear them trashing the Catholic Church. However I felt that what they presented was presented reasonably enough. Most of the posts simply state the differences between the Catholic and Protestant Church.
While I am, as you might say, indocdrinated into Catholic teachings I certianly respect other Christian teachings and do wish to learn more about them. There's a good chance I will not stop being Catholic, but I will certianly allow Protestants and other Christians to teach me and share their faith. I think that is something we all need to do, learn to listen to the other side of things. Even if we completely disagree, learning the other side can in the long run not only improve your own beleifs but help us grow closer as a society and a people.

6. I was surprised at how open they were to 'knowing the enemy.'
Of course, they don't see their own blinders, even as they explore the blinders of a different religion.

One thing I've long had difficulty with in ALL of Christianity is the focus on proper belief: the idea that salvation comes from happening to believe what is technically correct (according to one orthodoxy or another). Yes, Protestants take it to one extreme in 'by faith alone,' but the Catholic Church has certainly taken it to other extremes: as in inquisitions, the torture and killing of 'heretics.' I find the emphasis on believing the right thing, rather than on trying to do the right thing, to be baffling. And I grew up as a Catholic. I can only imagine the horror of those who were raised outside Christian churches when first viewing such a focus on 'correct belief.'

3. The first thing these idiots should do...
is invest in a spell checker program.

Next, They need to stay in school until they freepin' figure out where their "Christian" denominations came from.

4. and their bible
though they took some things out. Makes you wonder if they believe in biblical literacy, then what about those parts?

5. An Irish Catholic nun named Sister Anne wants to leave the order...
She approaches the Mother Superior and says: "Mother Superior, I wish to leave the order"

Mother Superior: "Whatever for, Sister Anne?"

Sister Anne: "I want to become a prostitute."

Mother Superior: "You want to become A WHAT!!!????!"

Sister Anne: "I said I want to become a prostitute."

Mother Superior: "Oh, saints be praised, I thought you said you wanted to become a Protestant!"
