What do we do with closet Freepers who get caught here?
Are they banned, or are they allowed to stay?

7. LOL You Caught me.....
I guess you'll have to ban me, oh well, I'm enjoying reading DAN Coutler's new book. ;)

BTW I think we should be nice to some of the closet Freepers. It's not their fault that they're supporting the DLC.

3. I think it depends on what they are saying
If I recall right, the rules say this board is for liberals and posting stuff rooting for right wing issues is banned.

6. I have seen some pretty interesting exchanges of ideas on this board,
and not all supporting the "typical liberal" viewpoint. It seems to me that RW people who are respectful and interested in serious discourse are tolerated to a point.

That's one of the (many) things I like about DU, and progressives in general; we don't refuse to entertain other opinions--we don't fear and automatically censor those who are obviously and fundamentally misguided.

Welcome to DU from your Northern Neighour, by the way! :hi:

8. I tend to agree
If they are at all reasonable, let them stay. Treat them well, provide well thought out logical responses to their points, and they may see they light.

If they are flame-baiting, I'd say treat them the same way - with thoughtful respect. IT WILL DRIVE THEM NUTS. *Then* knock their sorry asses off DU.

9. Exactly!
If we kick them off, how can we ever expect them to realise how wrong they are? I'd rather a RW troll spend his time here than on a RW board which only reinforces his warped ideology.

11. It's not our job to change their minds.
They would be here to change OUR minds.

We'd be totally invaded - there would never again be any rational discussion. I really don't care what they think.

14. Very true...
besides, they wear their tombstone like a badge of honor over in freeperville.

Since bush has been in the WH, I have consistently brought up situations, and countered arguments from the RW'ers here in Nebraska, (and there are a LOT of them). Not once, and I'm not making this up, have any of those who have discussed/argued with me about this administration, claimed a victory. In all buit two cases, I've had people come back to me to learn more about the shell game bush and his cohorts are playing on the public.

If the idiot in the WH doesn't succeed in blowing up the earth first, by the time the '04 election comes around, bush will be lucky if he carries Crawford TX!

Let the trolls come, they cannot survive in a world of truth.

13. that's what makes a progressive a progressive
We have progressed past the state of evolution where we see everthing in terms of good or bad, black or white, "for us or against us."

It could be that some of the freepers will actually get some progressive education by osmosis - and end up becoming principled conservatives!

sorry I can't spell "principled"

17. Those people aren't Freepers
The Freeper tolerates no deviation from the RW line and is abusive to those who hold non-"Bush is God" viewpoints. The RW people who are respectful and interested in serious discourse aren't Freepers, although they may post there. (Where else is there for them to go? Ldotters are worse.)

19. I'm Not A Fan Of Lieberman
but his supporters are not closet Freepers and to call them such betrays a certain nastiness or mean spiritedness.

12. Oh, they can't help themselves.
They try, but sooner or later, they "drop trou" and make mention of Clinton's Penis or something that erases all ambiguity.

It's sad to watch. They are powerless over their stupidity and their lives are out of control.

16. I like to ask
I like to ask who their Democratic hero is and why. They just don't know how to sound convincing answering that question.

15. Not a freeper
but rather new here! Good debate is the answer. I've been sparring on a chat room for a little while with a repug close to conforming. Also I might add some conservative dems might appear to be freeepers. They're still tryng to justify this war in idealistic sense. So be nice!

18. I like it when Freepers come over for debate.
I enjoy the discussions that are kept above name calling and RW propaganda (you can always tell those who get all their info from Rush and Sean talking points). Winning is always sweeter when the game is played on your home field.

The only annoying point is that you have to use simple words or they get scared and confused.
