Just got my first hate mail...I'm so proud!
I've written two letters to my local paper in the past two months, and I've received many compliments on them. One was from a pastor, and another was a call from a stranger out of the blue to my home one night. Felt pretty good to know that there's some islands of sanity out there, outside of the DU boards.

Well, today I got copies of my letter mailed back to me, with BULLSHIT rubber-stamped across the body of the text, and some non-sensical ramblings in "letter from prison" handwriting at the bottom. They're not threatening, and at first I was angry, but re-reading them, it's almost comical. I mean, his counters to the very concise points brought up in my original letters are factually inaccurate and logically bankrupt...you know, typical right-wing rhetoric. And the spelling and grammatical errors would be embarrassing to anyone but a third-grader.

It actually makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside to know that I upset some useful idiot of the GOP enough to make him put down his Etch-A-Sketch, turn off O'Reilly, and write me.

Interestingly enough, his return address is almost all the way across the next state from me. I checked his name and address on the 'net, and came up blotto. So, not only is he a dolt, but a coward. A fitting follower of our Fearless Leader, no?

Anyway, just wanted to share.

4. Love to...
My first letter pointed out how Bush, Cheney and the GOP has perpetually been misrepresenting Kerry's record, by claiming that he voted against planes, tank, body armor, blah blah blah, when Cheney was cutting the same programs as Secretary of Defense.

To which he replied, "Obviously you didn't here (sp) Kerry say 'first I voted for it, then I didn't.' Is it true you're (sp) brain is mush?" Never mind that Kerry was referring to his vote on the Iraq war, but facts and timelines get confusing to these yahoos.

In my next letter, Bush came to town a few weeks ago, and a WW2 vet got turned away at the door because some volunteer asked him if he supported Bush, and he said no. I wrote a letter saying that this man has earned the right to ask the President anything he damn well pleases (I'm getting angry again, writing about it), and I asked how much public funding was going to support this campaign stop disguised as a presidential visit.

His answer was, "The disgusting part is your lack of understanding. (The veteran) wasn't denied access because he was a veteran. (He) was denied access because he wasn't a Republican (note: the veteran in question voted for Bush in 2000, per the article that prompted my letter). It's a political campaign stop, stupid! Not a town hall meeting! After reading two of you're (sp) leters (sp...he's on a roll) I come to the conclusion that if you have half a brain your (sp...at least he's consistently illiterate) still be (twist and turn that syntax!) a moron".

Somewhere an English teacher is very very proud.

You know I wasn't going to contact him, because this drivel isn't worth my time, but I was just curious if he had indeed given his true address, as I had to when I submitted my letters.

7. ROFL thanks what is frightening about letters like this is that the
person is probably a parent (what is he teaching his/her children?) and since he/she is upset enough to answer a letter in the newspaper by a complete stranger a state away, he/she probably votes too.

sigh but on the other hand ... :yourock:

17. Vets have every right to complain
I hate when RWers try to slander Vets who question Bush. They were heroes, but suddenly they are traitors, cowards, (and according to Peach on FreeRepublic), Metrosexuals. Peach actually called vets who won't support Bush Metrosexuals. Disgraceful

5. Was the address 1500 Pennsylvania Avenue? In crayon?
If so, you know who it was.

They really should take those crayons away from Bushie boy.

8. listen Hobarticus
I have a third grade daughter. Comparing her grammatical and spelling skills, much less her logic and understanding of current events to that of a right winger is just a low blow.

;-)

Thanks for sharing and congratulations on your "trophy."

15. Olive branch
This is the perfect opening! I am a freeper (God forbid, right?), former liberal (University of Michigan Sociology grad) who is interested in discussing the issues with democrats. Is anyone else interested in this? Perhaps we could work out a way to do this without using either the Freeper or DU boards where people will certainly be mightily offended!

PS I apologize for using your board to get a response. However, I am a political junkie and the vitriol has really been getting to me lately. I confess I come to your board to find out what the "other side" is thinking? Where is a better place to find a democrat than DU?

Please, no hard feelings! Jill

18. Good luck
I imagine that you will be shown the door, as this is a place for liberals to meet, but maybe you can hang around and read some of the stuff here and maybe change your mind. There are nice folks here.

I mean, you're a chick, right? Chicks can change their minds. And chicks should be liberals. Only ugly chicks should be RWers.

Kindest regards,

Vickers

P.S. Just kidding with all the "chick" talk.

:P

19. well
I am sure most people here wouldn't mind having dicussions with you, but since you have Id'ed yourself as 'the other side' you might get the boot, since this isn't a political debate board, but one for liberals to discuss things.

Im always up to discussing issues, but i don't know of any places on the internet.

I just got linked to this site,

http://4forums.com/political/index.php

but i don't know much about it. anyone have any others?

16. Isn't it great when you get to them?

I have a bumper sticker on my car, "The Road to Hell is Paved
with Republicans" where some wingnut keyed the word "Republicans."
I'm lucky they didn't key the rest of the car.
