Simply put, the single most dangerous statement I have heard in a long, long time.

But dangerous in a good way.

I thought that living through the Watergate Era was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. How wrong I was. I certainly hope The American People will learn that a Republican Party, given all the marbles of power, cannot be trusted to rise to the occasion. It is clearly evident that it is now, and has been for a long time, the party of small, bitter, greedy, mean and vicious people who hold the laws, rights and traditions of This United States in the highest contempt, as it does the majority of The American People.

I look forward to the coming two to three decades in which they will be reduced to the status of a political footnote. That day is coming quickly, hastened by the actions of their scabby, leprous, claw-like hands.

To any repuke that reads this missive, I say to you: Enjoy your growing disgrace and mortification at what you have wrought. Wallow in your shame. Recoil upon gazing at your image in a mirror. You have earned it. You, and your Newts and Pauls and Donalds and Grovers and Georges and Anns and Seans and Michaels and Rushs and Neils and Pats and Jerrys. You and your political philosophy ripped from a time when you wanted your allowance but didn't want to do your chores. You and your filthy minds, filthy mouths and filthy politicians. You and your disgusting hatreds.

You. Yes, you. Super-Patriot? Not hardly. Betrayers of all that is good, right and lawful in any civil society, especially ours. Betrayers of the blood that was spilled by those who came before you for to preserve those good and right things. Betrayers of the working people of this nation, who built this nation. Betrayers of faith and reason.

I am going to enjoy this like few things I have ever enjoyed and I will not shrink at rubbing your pig-like noses in the sludge and offal and entrails of your works. Oh yes. This is gonna be real fun.

Your time draws nigh. Hubris is inexhorably followed by Nemesis. It is one of the few real constants in this world.

I assure you, I shall enjoy this. Then, I shall get to work to do whatever I can to clean up the mess you have left.

Enjoy. Enjoy your descent into guilt, into horror, and into self-mortification. It's yours. You earned if like few have ever earned anything.

I thought that he said that they had to protect those who would come forward, not give immunity to the guilty. I could be wrong, but I thought he was talking about the decent men and women in the military, not those who support shrub and rummy. These are military officers that know but will not speak without Congressional protection. They have to divulge classified info.
