When is it OK to murder Palestinians?

When they're gay, I guess, judging from the reaction in the press release below.

Lesbians and gay men from OutRage! and the Queer Youth Alliance joined today’s demonstration in London to support the human rights of the people of Palestine. But they also urged the Palestinian Authority to halt the arrest, torture and murder of homosexuals.

They marched with placards reading: "Israel: stop persecuting Palestine! Palestine: stop persecuting queers!"

As soon as they arrived in Trafalgar Square to join the demonstration, the gay protesters were surrounded by an angry, screaming mob of Islamic fundamentalists, Anglican clergymen, members of the Socialist Workers Party, the Stop the War Coalition, and officials from the protest organisers, the Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC). They variously attacked the gay activists as “racists”, “Zionists”, “CIA and MI5 agents”, “supporters of the Sharon government” and “dividing the Free Palestine movement”.

PSC organisers asked the gay activists to “stand at the back of the demonstration”, and when they refused blocked their placards with their own banners and shouted down the gay campaigners as they tried to speak to journalists and other protesters.

According to the arguments I have heard.

Most Supporters of aggression will tell you that they are "sub human" - just like all the Iraqis we tortured - they were "sub human" too.

And all this time studying biology I never even knew there was a special species of sub-human human beings. :crazy:

fight communism. Israel supported Hamas financially in 80s to offset the power of the PLO. The PLO has grown increasingly fundy as their people have grown more fundy.

When Israel gets out they will have to focus on their own problems, rather than the occupation all the time.

I'm never hesitant to criticize Israel, but I hardly see how they are responsible for the treatment of Palestinian gays, many of whom are forced to live secretly in Israel in order to escape being murdered by their own families.

If we're looking to place blame for this, it seems to me that the problem is with religious fundamentalism, which is just as unsavory in its Muslim form as in its Christian, Jewish, and other varieties.
