Which October Surprise is more likely: FInding WMDS or Osama?
These two are probably the most likely scenarios for an October Surprise, even though there are many others, like Reagan mysteriously dying. Which October Surprise would help * more though?

Terror attack, discovery of WMD (possibly with forged al Qeada and 9/11 ties)

"capture" of Osama.

8. Yep - The trian wreck has already begun
Now it's a matter of whos clean and who can bve on the reconstruction team, then we will see the scope of this whole thing.

This goes from the Torture pics - the Clear end result of all the insanity and derailing - all the way back to Monica Lewensky and all the conspirators who contributed to this thing.

Simply dumping the joint Chiefs is not enough - this speaks to the very system itself and the people who abused it to enrich themselves.

We're going to take back investigative power and take a long look a the secerets to determine who controlls us and how we operate. Then we will fix things.

That's what I hope happens.

I've been saying these last few weeks and the coming few weeks will be the scariest and most dangerous since the Cuban Missile Crisis. I'm sticking to that prediction.

7. capture of osama, by far the better p.r. move
at this point, and wmd find won't work. if it's a big find of actual wmd goodies, then people will assume it was planted. more likely, any find would be obsolete or things that are very borderline in terms of calling them wmds. like some chemical that could possibly be used as a preliminary step in an alternative method of creating one componenet of a mildly effective chemical weapon.

but osama is still the devil, so his capture will still play in peoria.

9. Personally I think WMDs would have more impact
But it all depends on how many of them they find, or the quality of them. If they find a drum of Anthrax that hadn't been opened since 1994, then it won't help *, but if they find every single weapon that * claimed Saddam had, as well as Al Qaeda links, then the media and the Repugs will start taunting us 24/7 about how the war really was justified, and therefore, the Dems have noting to run on relating to Iraq. The Osama capture will only give * a boost for a few weeks, while the WMD discovery could take Iraq off the table, no matter how bad it gets there.

12. I think they're past the point they can really "sell" the WMD.
Only 15-20% of people would probably drink that Kool-Aid by now. I'm hoping, anyway.
