Re "Flip Flopping" : Does this work?
For local newspapers :

It's kind of funny how much like a muscle the human mind is. If muscles are not stressed, by work or exercise such as lifting weights, they do not develop strength. If a human mind is not stressed by the work of actual problem solving, thinking does not develop.

What is problem solving that it is so essential to the development of thinking skills? The model of weights again provides a clue. Problems, like weights, consist of two opposite parts. In the act of thinking, resolution of the stress that is generated by how opposed elements relate to one another drives exploration, and, hence, knowledge acquisition that can add and subtract factors from the relationship between the opposed elements. Without two opposites there is no stress, without stress there is no thought.

Whether it's called "flip flopping" or debate, internal or otherwise, the fact is that being able to see life's experiences honestly from more than one perspective results in strength of mind.

3. The answers are never black and white
Truth lies in the gray area between. Those incapable of accepting a moderate opinion are fools.
