Pay to Pray?
New York's Republican governor George Pataki is hosting a prayer breakfast with First Lady Laura Bush as the featured speaker. What's raising eyebrows about this event isn't just the spectacle of a secular official putting himself in the role of a religious leader. Attendees must "pay to pray": from $30 to $100 per ticket. Pataki's aides say the money will be used for "expenses", but haven't said what expenses -- or whose. It makes you wonder whether the people buying those tickets read the New Testament, especially the parts where Jesus admonishes us to pray in private instead of making a big show of it to impress other people, and warns that rich people have a tough time making it into heaven.

1. I wonder what songs they'll have playing in the background...
M C Hammer's "Pray" is a likely candidate... Good song. The actual music was "borrowed" from Prince though, I recall Prince threw a bit of a wobbler over it...

4. "Onward, Christian Soldiers"
Marching as to war (as long as they don't actually have to GO to war...just send others to do the dirty work)

3. also noted in the article:
"In each instance (of denying communion to pro-choice politicians), the target was a Democrat. One cannot recall when a prominent church leader went after Roman Catholic Republicans who favor abortion rights, like Mr. Pataki and former Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani. Or when these men were called to task for ignoring church doctrine in their support of the death penalty."
