There's a bug in the stew....
And his name is al Sadr. But there may be more? June 30th is rapidly approaching and Bush has said he will turn over Iraq to the Iraqis. Unfortunately, he cannot turn it over while bugs like al Sadr are still creeping around. That means these bugs must be destroyed between now and June 30th. That would mean the threshold for violence is high between now and then. There will be lots of battles and skirmishes leading up to June 30th, unless these bugs crawl away or are smashed. And that's the way it is....

1. Do you think Bush is telling the truth about Al Sadr?
Do you think murdering Al Sadr will solve anything?

Don't you realize that violence like this only begets more violence? Don't you realize that his supporters will be able to recruit more fighters if he is murdered (assuming Bush is telling the truth)?

2. Tom Delay the Bug Exterminator
Now that it's okay to torture and rape them, it's okay to gas them. Because after all, we're only doing it to the terrorists. The peace loving Iraqis are throwing flowers.

3. Would that killing not be like killing Pat Robertson?
or Billy Graham, or the Pope?

Am I minunderstanding, or is Sader not a religious leader in Iraq?

I don't believe Sader is right, nor do I think any of the religious zellots are right in demanding holy wars, and fighting to your death. But they do! I don't think squishing Sader or any like him is going to make anything better....probably will make it worse.

It's impossible to kill all yur enemies!!

5. Killing them only creates new ones
..among their outraged families and friends. That is the point.

4. It's the cycle of violence
Killing al Sadr will only cause someone else to step up to the plate. We're creating more future terrorists than we're eliminating with this 'War on Terror'. We kill some of them, and a few thousand innocents (collateral damage), they kill some Americans, and so on. Meanwhile, these hearts and minds we're trying to win over with all of the carnage and whatnot turn against the US stronger than ever. Wash, rinse, repeat.
