This is a largely bifurcated country. Some people would still vote for Bush if he personally dropped Anthrax on New York.

Bush is pretty near the bottom of his barrel. If he gets into the middle 30s, thats as low as he can possibly drop. That will win Kerry the election provided we can overwhelm all the votes the Republicans are sure to steal.

I also started a thread wondering what a mortally wounded Bush would do, once his numbers dropped to the point where it was obvious he could not get elected.

I still think it's a very dangerous period we're in because of this.

I would be surprised if he fell into the 30's averaging over all the polls. He might drop there in one or two of them. Unfortuately, his hard core base is about 40%. It will be very hard to crack that beyond the margin of error in the polls.

And are you saying no Pres got re-elected (selected?) if their approval rating was below 50% 6 months before the election?
