Daily U.S. Casualties
8/11/2003

As of Friday, 257 U.S. soldiers had died since the beginning of military operations in Iraq, according to the military.

The British government has reported 43 deaths.

On or since May 1, when President Bush declared that major combat operations in Iraq had ended, 119 U.S. soldiers have died in Iraq, according to the latest military figures.

No new identifications were reported Sunday.

The latest deaths, according to U.S. Central Command:

An American soldier from the 3rd Corps Support Command died Saturday of heat stroke while traveling in a convoy near the southern city of Diwaniyah.

A soldier with the 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment was found dead in troop living quarters Saturday. The cause of the soldier's death is unknown.

2. I keep hearing 90 or 91
deaths since 01 may, which I know is bullshit, we've got the casualty count rolling backwards. I think that maybe 100 is a magic number, even the most out of touch would start to take notice at that number, and thats why they are spining this so much, combat/non combat, it's all bullshit I'll accept your number of 119 dead and raise you one to 120 as reported by yahoo this morning. A soldier from the fourth ID killed by a roadside bomb, with two wounded.
