....remember good ol napalm? from the viet nam war? that was so long ago but the article and photo above will refresh you, or enlighten you.

i read today that british intelligence revealed that the u.s. is using napalm as a 'psychological tool' in routing out terrorism in iraq. i suppose there is a definite psychological effect to having one's flesh burned by a chemical that sticks to everything it touches and burns it. clothes melted to flesh, i can see how that would be a psychological problem alright.

are we nazis yet? are we liberators and not conquerors like the president says? the only effect this weapon of mass destruction has on people is that it burns them alive. the psychological effects if there are any at all, are the giggles of the military overlords, sitting in their safe mansions in d.c., laughing about how we are fulfilling our lust for revenge on live human beings with the most horrific weapon to emerge from the viet nam war. this isn't being done for psychological effect, but for vengeance and hatred of inferior non american humans who have lots of oil that belongs to dick cheney. napalm as a psychological tool. i must be having a bad dream.

1. What goes around comes around!
The stormtroopers are alive and well in Pubville!

I keep thinking about how the Nazis dealt with the defeated people when they overran Europe!

A classic example of what The Rummy/Chenny/Bush Cartel call liberation can be seen here...........

snip

In 1942 Czechoslovak paratroops assassinated Reichsprotektor Reinhard Heydrich. The Nazis took savage revenge. They picked at random a Czech village, Lidice (about 18 km north-west of Prague) and completely obliterated it. The men from the village were executed, and the women and children were sent to concentration camps. The village was burned and then bulldozed to completely eradicate it. Of the 500 inhabitants. 192 men, 60 women, and 88 children eventually died. There is now a green field and several memorials at the site where Lidice stood.

And this is going to make people cheer us? Maybe the people on Wall Street!

6. I also think it was a 10 to 1 kill rate if you killed a german.
We seem to have a lot of people in this country that think like that.We have not got very far have we? What is really scary is so many of those 'odd' thinkers are 'bible' people.

2. It is pretty disgusting.....
War, any war, is ugly as hell, but some weapons are uglier than others. Napalm is one of those weapons that I consider to be among the most brutal and ugly of them all and we should be ashamed we even use it.

3. But according to W
We are making great progress in Iraq. Sure we're making great progress, if bombing people back to the stone age and genociding an entire culture is your main goal.

Napalm:

1. The Pentagon has now confirmed that it used MK-77 firebombs against Iraqi forces during the American attack on Iraq (see here and here for information on German television reports). MK-77 firebombs contain a sticky incendiary substance that is of a different chemical composition than napalm but has the same effect on those it hits (for lots of information on incendaries and napalm, see here). Colonel Mike Daily of the U. S. Marine Corps said:

2. "Many folks (out of habit) refer to the Mark-77 as 'napalm' because its effect upon the target is remarkably similar."

The Pentagon vehemently denied the initial stories of napalm use in March, claiming that it had destroyed all its stocks of napalm. We now know that this denial was a lie, as 'napalm' was the common term used by the troops in Iraq and there is no essential difference between napalm and the substance used in the MK-77 firebombs. John Pike, director of the military studies group GlobalSecurity.Org, said:

"You can call it something other than napalm but it is still napalm. It has been reformulated in the sense that they now use a different petroleum distillate, but that is it. The US is the only country that has used napalm for a long time. I am not aware of any other country that uses it."

The outrage of the Pentagon at the original story by Lindsay Murdoch published in the Sydney Morning Herald and the Melbourne Age (and see also the story by Martin Savidge for CNN) - with the accusation that the Pentagon used napalm described by a Pentagon spokesman as 'patently false' - reveals the fact that the Pentagon itself felt guilty enough about what it had done that it decided to lie about it...

15. Colonel: "It's no great way to die."
How droll. The colonel is such a cut-up. Then there's this:

"The Pentagon said it had not tried to deceive. It drew a distinction between traditional napalm, first invented in 1942, and the weapons dropped in Iraq, which it calls Mark 77 firebombs. They weigh 510lbs, and consist of 44lbs of polystyrene-like gel and 63 gallons of jet fuel.

"Officials said that if journalists had asked about the firebombs their use would have been confirmed. A spokesman admitted they were "remarkably similar" to napalm but said they caused less environmental damage.

Some priorities these guys have. :eyes:

11. The bad karma just keeps piling up . . .
Keep these things in mind the next time an attack like September 11 happens. There will once again be hand-wringing stories wailing and wondering "Why do they hate America?" The use of napalm or a "napalm-like substance"* will have been long forgotten.

Naturally, the people who will pay the penalty will not necessarily be the ones who inflicted the original damage. We as a nation have many fences to mend and so many wounds that we have inflicted to bind up.

*So what, exactly, constitutes a "napalm-like substance"? Is it "new and improved" like a floor cleaner or breakfast cereal?
