USA Today: "The first decision is about Bush"....yeah, baby!

"The first decision is about Bush
By Susan Page, USA TODAY
WASHINGTON — The first contest in this year's presidential election isn't President Bush against Democrat John Kerry.

The initial judgment that swing voters make when presidents run for re-election is whether the incumbent deserves another four years in the Oval Office, political analysts say. Only then do they consider whether the challenger would be a suitable alternative."

According to the article, here's one step that "The Bush Team" says "will bolster his standing"...

"Count on the economy. The White House was delighted by a Bureau of Labor Statistics report that showed April was the second month with strong growth in jobs, the weakest part of Bush's economic record. But the report was issued on the same day that Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld testified before Congress about the abuse of Iraqi detainees at the Abu Ghraib prison in Baghdad. The good news was drowned out by the bad. Polls show that many Americans are pessimistic about the state of the economy despite a consensus among economists that it's recovering. "As people focus on it, his ratings on the economy will get better," Black says. "In the long run, you have to bet that's the most important issue."

So MAKE NOTE OF THAT...Americans aren't "more happy" about the "delightful" news on the job front because it's all lies and bullshit and low paying jobs...no, they aren't "more happy" because those DAMNED abused Iraqis stole the president's thunder!!!!

Now you know. Thank you, Team Bush!

1. The increase in jobs
are bogus numbers anyway. I haven't seen one report put out by this administration that wasn't a buncha lies right from day one.

2. No kidding - try putting an ad for workers out
You'll get swamped, totally swamped by people out of work. I know because I just did it.

3. Bizarro World Only Goes So Far
Looks like the "pundits" are starting to wake up and read the polls. Where they been? LOL.

I've noticed, and posted, recently how there appears to be a real "look-over" by many of the moderates and independents who voted for Bunnypants in 2000. Until recently, they still could square it as the impression was he had "won" or was "winning" the "war on terror" and the economy was about to turn around.

Now, if you have substantial savings and income, 2003 was a hell of a year. If you were like 90% or more of the real people, you had a shitty year which almost looks good compared to the $2.25 a gallon gas and $3.50 for a gallon of milk. It was bad when people weren't making as much money as they were, but now we're about to take off for a round of long-delayed inflation and people's earning power will shrink further. But Bunnypants and his ilk can't feel it, since they've never had to worry about where the next paycheck comes from or how to stretch it as thin as one can.

I caution, we're still a long way out of the election, and while things are looking good now and I don't see Bunnypants pulling a rabbit out of his ass, enough people have been intimidated and dooped by this regime in the past 3 years and the tendency to give Asswipe the benefit of the doubt still goes on.

4. All excellent points...
...especially your last paragraph. Too many people have been looking for a "sign," and when that "sign" presents itself in November, that will be the one to grab onto.

It does seem significant that we are seeing more articles and cable news stories on, as the article puts it, whether Bush "deserves another four years in the Oval Office."

I haven't paid close attention to Hannity & Colmes for the last few weeks or so...Hannity was coming back from commercial breaks with his "election countdown"...as in "only XXX days until Americans go to the polls and re-elect president Bush." I wonder if he 's still doing that, and if he is, when he'll stop.
