Tell everyone you know about the DRAFT! Men and Women up to 34YOA
Honestly, everyone in this country should know that one of the first things Bush plans on doing if re-selected, is re-enacting the draft. Only this time around it will be men and women with the age limit moving up from 25 years of age to 34 years of age. They have millions set aside and they are already asking people to serve on draft boards.

Kerry says that there will be no draft if he is elected. End of story.

Tell everyone you know, they can find out for themselves by going to google.

1. More on this
The SS director (appropo :eyes:) pitched the idea of extending the draft to age 34 early last year. He also suggested that registrants include their "special skills" when they register, which is a fine way to reward people who pursue careers in high tech :eyes:

Upping the age to 34 would include me, and I pledge right here in front of everybody that I will never serve this president. To that I pledge my sacred honor. Period.

I'm sorry I haven't had the time to update it for a couple of months, but what is here is plenty to get you started.

4. Can you post the most credible source on this.
If this is true, then it includes me and I will have nothing to do with Iraq. Bush is really scary.

6. There Will be A draft even in the off chance that Kerry gets in
The Same puppet masters are pulling the strings of the left and the right...Been that way for a while and if you can't see it, you are blind....I served when I was young and ignorant..They can't get me, but will get many....What the Fuck are we doing in Iraq really people? If you think it was to look for WMD that we KNEW were not there and had originally given them in the first place, or to liberate the people you are niave...If things were like they should be, we would have not spent future generation's social security, and we would have spend the $$ necessary for a health care system...I mean, the average American could not give a fuck about Iraqi's when our basic needs are not being met...and 1/2 the people are so ignorant that they actually agree with the policies of the Bush Administration....What fucking stupid morons.....It's evident that we deserve our fate....Get ready to dig in and get ready for endless War cause that's we'll get......Sound pessimistic? Sorry, it's realistic..I suggest you get off the cloud you are on and realize what is truly reality..This goes WAY WAY beyond democrat and Republican....Open your collective eyes America..

7. What about Kerry's National service...
where he sends untrained kids in to possibly hostile environments to "rebuild roads...hospitals...etc etc" Sounds like a defacto draft to me.

8. Right On ! Wake up America,Your sons ,daughters, and yourself
may end up in the Army or event the Marine Corps. Though I volunteered and served 2 tours in VIET NAM with the USMC, THERE WERE THOSE who served in the Marines who did not volunteer, but were drafted. I will never forget the shock and disbelief on thier faces as they were instructed to fall in with those who were assigned to the Marines when we were all sworn in . They thought they would be in the Army wich was plenty bad enough. But at that time< July 1967 > being a Marine meant a quick trip to Viet Nam especially if you were a draftee. And the drill instructors gave them an extra hard time to boot. Vote Kerry if you love you teenage children, if for no other reason. ...Oscar

9. A draft would be a Repub's wet dream...
60% of all 18-29 year olds vote Democratic. Hmmm, can't be voted out if a lot of your voters are dead.

10. It's sad, but I think a draft will be the ONLY way
to awaken the majority of young Americans as to what's going on.

Face it, it's awfully hard to enjoy watching American Idol when you're worried that a draft card might be showing up in the mail.

11. someone oughta outright get rid of selective servicse
forced participation is slavery, and if there were a good enough reason to go to war, all the goverment would have to do is ask and more people will sign up

12. Republican parachute here:
from your link and in the index:

"Proclamation 4483 Granting Pardons For Violations of the Selective Service Act"

I was unable to gain access to the actual wording of the proclamation..
once you click on the site the link just evaporates.

I would be willing to bet it's an interesting read..

The Proclamation was put into play Nov/Dec/00 to 1/01..the only fruit of my search..

14. here is a working link that explains Proclamation 4483
http://www.archives.gov/federal_register/codification/proclamations/04483.html

odd that your results ended up showing Nov/Dec 2000 as when this went into effect because everything I see in a google search of "proclamation 4483" comes up 1977, when Jimmy Carter proclaimed all Vietnam War resisters ("draft dodgers") pardoned. I highly doubt this proclamation could be of any use now except as a model for a proclamation some years from now when a sane president declares all Iraqi War draft dodgers pardoned.

Edited on Mon May-17-04 06:48 AM by Kahuna
 It was priceless. Then I told my niece and got the same reaction. I wish I had had the camcorder to record their reactions. I will definately have the camcorder ready when I share the news with the rest of my young family members who think they're safe because they're over 26. Maybe they will think twice about voting in November,

16. Brought this up over the weekend and my GOP friend
shot me down by saying, "I just read where the recruitment rate is way up now. There won't be any draft - we have more than enough volunteers."

Since this was my son's girlfriends father whom I don't know so well, I didn't argue but this is probably a widely-held belief.

18. Y'know...
the draft is a bad idea to cover up shortfalls in manpower induced by bad decisionmaking...
On the other hand I work at a high tech company and the thought of some of these rich yuppie libertarian-utopian nerds getting dragged out of their palacial cubicles and sent off to an endless war in the desert is too delicious a fantasy by half.

19. I just told my husband's brother
and his wife last Friday. Both are under 34 and she is a nurse. I told them that there are two bills pending on this in Congress, one has deferments, the other doesn't. Since she is a surgical nurse, they will definitely draft her. They were appropriately appalled and I believe were on the fence about who to vote for. They asked what Kerry will do. I said, No draft. I also told them I applied to be on my local draft board.
