Well, WMDs have been "found"
*'s speech combined with the sarin explosion has convinced me they've unleashed the October Surprise.

1. Nah!
Years old. Only part of chemical. The Pentagon said that the bomber probably didn't even know what it was.

I suppose you could call it "found" when it blows up in your face.

(Edit - spelling)

10. Right! If they had found WMD they wouldn't be using ...
these old weapons that are well beyond their "best if used by date:______". The real story here is how Bush has created a terrorism menace where none existed before. The Iraqi resistance is now free to dig up whatever dangerous old weapons/materials/substances they can find and use them as they see fit. The threat from Saddam was imaginary. The threat from the angry Arab streets is now greatly enhanced.

3. Since the sarin shell is old and not potent, is doesn't quallify as a thre
threat to American security.

9. Nor are chemical weapons really WMD
the junta just tries to lump everything into that pile to increase their
chances to get lucky.

Once again, stretching the language way, way past the limits of credible usage, the shrub misidentidefinationates what a WMD is and isn't. Sarin, old or new isn't a WMD unless the Rumsfeld DOD agrees that DU tipped bullets are defined as nuk-lur weapons too.

4. The "kicker" may be the discovery of some warehouse or trucks with this
stuff. Watch for it.

5. Nah. The first of 3 October Surprises hasn't yet happened
1) "Capture" of Bin Laden

2) Raygun's conveniently timed "death"

3) LIHOP #2 -- San Francisco gets it, Ahnold becomes Emperor-in-Waiting behind Emperor Jeb.

6. When I hear it from Hans Blix, then I'll believe it's something
Until then, I think they are making the whole thing up. The Bush administration has a long history of shamelessly lying about this topic.

7. I missed comments by Bushie...
But MSNBC was making a very big deal out of it this morning. David Kay was interviewed and made it clear that the "weapons" were left over from the Iran/Iraq war and no one expected that Iraq would be organized enough to find, and dispose of, all of the weapons they produced.

But, the newscasters kept reporting the story with an urgency in their voices that suggested the discovery was a major event (like justfying the invasion, perhaps).

12. the idea was that these were specifically denied to exist by Saddam
so it proved that he was lying about destroying them and was in material breach of 1441. And if there's one, there are probably more. And that the guys who used to shoot these things DID know how to tell the difference so they must not be talking about where they were stockpiled under Saddam.

16. It wasn't being being presented that intelligently...
It was the usual shallow sensationalism. Anyone who backs Bush will feel justified by the presentation of this information.

The real WMD's are RPG's. Those pesky little weapons are doing all the killing!

11. Again?
This isn't the first time they've found WMD's. All the other times turned out to be wishful thinking on Bush's part. I don't expect this to be any different unless it's corraborated by some other country.

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

Remember this happened before, with the Danish troops about 6 months ago.

15. Fearless Prediction - This will blow over pretty quickly.
It's a non-story and if the Bush Admin try to make too much of it it'll (pardon the pun) blow up in their faces.

“The Iraqi Survey Group confirmed today that a 155 millimetre artillery round containing sarin nerve agent had been found,” said Brigadier General Mark Kimmitt, the chief military spokesman in Iraq.

“The round had been rigged as an IED (improvised explosive device) which was discovered by a US force convoy.

“A detonation occurred before the IED could be rendered inoperable. This produced a very small dispersal of agent,” he said.

See! I told all you 'Murican hating morans we'd find those Weapons of Minimal Dispersal!

Look at fox news homepage right now....it looks like pink lemonade gas just exploded.

In smaller print: "Red smoke billows from an area where a non-chemical improvised explosive device was found in Baghdad today."

22. Since the HUGE border has been more or less OPEN for a year
I am sure that "foreigners" have brought a lot of stuff into Iraq.. When people sneak in , unimpeded, who knows what they have in the trunks of their cars..??

Not a big deal to me.. but if it bumps Michael Moore from the papers, the * admin will be happy to have Sarin in the newsx.

24. faux in earnest trying to keep kicking it
devoted the first 10 minutes to the "non-story"

Guy from the pentagon "kept repeating" it's a major development.

Then in the same breath said it might be old stockpiles left over.

Faux is such a garbage box for half-wits and donut holes!
