Looking up Eisner's donations something doesn't make sense
Michael Eisner has donated only to Democrats, with one exception to the Republican Congressional Committee in this election cycle, even donating the maximum 2000 dollars to John Kerry's campaign. He hasn't given a dime to Bush-Cheney, at least yet.

That being said, why the hell is this guy trying to shut Michael Moore up?

6. That's What I Heard on The News
I believe it was Eisner's own words according to the news report I heard, that he did not want to jeopardize the tax breaks they receive. I think I heard that statement on CNN when they first broke the story.

3. Maybe he was trying to
expose Jeb and the fear that Repukes put into the corporate whores. He was pretty direct in his reason. Just a theory.

8. he is running a business
he cannot afford to piss off the whole right that goes to disneyland. the limbaughs of the world have for a decade been making disney out to be a left wing media. that they are trying to contaminate our kids feeding them homosexuality. has been a while this has been going on with disney. for him to not want to be the one to put out moore's movie as a business i totally understand. now i have heard today that he is trying to hold it back, i dont know. i figured he would just let it go and let someone else make the money off it

his theme parks are in financial trouble and he is about to lose his job if he doesnt increase the revenue in these parks. he doesnt need this controversy from a buisiness perspective.

like him or not. it is business for him and he has responsibilities to stock holders and employees

13. What about this (Gay Day at Disney)...
Edited on Mon May-17-04 03:11 PM by uberotto
Since 1991, gay men and lesbians from around the world have converged in and around Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida for an entire weekend of exciting events centered around area theme parks and attractions. Gay Day at Walt Disney World attendance has grown considerably, attracting more than 100,000 gay men, lesbians, bisexuals, family and friends since 1998. It's not just Disney anymore! Universal Studios, Sea World and Busch Gardens have joined this exciting event. Come on in and explore what we've got in store for you during Gay Day 2004 and beyond, and take a look back at past Gay Day's to relive those wonderful memories!

It's a huge controversy every year, and every year Disney tells the conservative evangelicals (and the whole of right wing America) to go f**k themselves.

Southern Babtist have been protesting against Disney for years now, but it hasn't swayed Disney's or Orlando's opinion about the event.

I am a huge Michael Moore fan, I can't stand eisner, but I do have some respect for Disney. To me this whole idea of being afraid of jebbie just doesn't make sense. Disney has far more influence in what goes on in Florida than the Governor does. If the governor ever threateded to raise Disney's taxes, Disney would just threaten to raise their rates to cover the increase, thereby jeopardizing tourism for central florida. Net Effect of this is a new governor in the next election. Florida lives and dies on the tourism dollar.

10. He can make JEB look bad,
Protect the Disney tax breaks, and publicize the movie.

A deal will be cut so the movie can be released.

11. Yes, he is a moderate democrat himself. He's the token dem of the big
6 media moguls(GE, Disney, New Corp, Viacom, Time Warner)

Apparently he's just looking out for the bottom line of his company. I suspect he's been threatened by the Florida Bush thugs.

12. To be honest, I understand his position.
I can't imagine any other decision being made. I think the limit for these sorts of corporations is a movie like Oliver Stone's "Nixon," which is a retrospective. But the current hot potatoes are avoided.

ABC radio plays Rush Limbaugh and Michael Savage.

Is rightwing rhetoric ok, but not leftwing rhetoric?

14. Just playing it safe I think
No company wants to have any group mad at it.

If a company's sales go up 4 % a year, it's a good year. If it goes down 4 % it's a disaster.

Want a disaster for a company like Disney? Look partisan and get a large group of people against you, and not shopping in your stores.

It's just good business sense. Don't do stuff to make people angry with your company.
