"Two men and two women marrying each other is a passport to hell"
said Katherine Hockenbarger from Topeka, Kan., who was standing on an American flag"

I LOVE that this is the only piece of anti-gay marriage sentiment in the entire, 3-page story. It manages to capture both the argument and the intelligence level of those in the other camp.

It's a fucking great day. Congratulations to everyone.

11. Well, don't take it supernaturally:
those two men and two women will have a lot of work to do to make their foursome work.

2. But you don't have passports TO places
they're FROM your country. Maybe she meant a plane ticket? seems it would be hard to get the plane down under the Earth like that.

4. Standing ON an American flag?

Isn't that some sort of Republican sin?

8. This woman needs to stop and think about what she said:
If she's a fundie (which she sounds like), then those who practice homosexuality are "going to hell" anyway. Why would it matter if they got a piece of paper from the government and then engaged in homosexual acts? I mean, where in the bible does it talk about passports to hell. Did they even have passports back then? Or, what the hell is this dingbat talking about?

I mean, WTF?

Sometimes I wonder why I even look for rationality in their arguments. Its a useless exercise.

13. Hey, a passport not only gets one into a country, ...
it also gets one back out. Maybe the fundies are mellowing -- only sending gays for temporary visits to hell, rather than banishing them eternally.

Be careful: don't burn your thumb on the visa stamp.

that foursome will have some real adjusting to do. ;-)

On the other hand, two men marrying each other and two women marrying each other will doubtless produce some happy matches.

12. For once, I wish someone would call them on this crap.
How are gay marriages a "passport to hell"? How does she know? Did God tell her this? Why would the creator of EVERYTHING care whether two people in love were to marry? If God, for some peculiar reason, would despise gay marriage (I'm actaully trying to picture the Creator trembling with rage over same-sex marriage. Just can't picture it), why is Gavin Newsom, the mayor of San Francisco who presided over 3,000+ gay marriages, still alive? Shouldn't Mayor Newsom, according to Ms. Hockenbarger, be "smited" or something?

Just wondering.

BTW: A great day for gay people...and humanity in general. :-)

17. This is so sad. It's about love.
And there are people so blinded with hate, they would actually consider committing violence to stop it.

Just tragically sad.

16. Well, marriage has been a declining institution for decades.
Many have dispensed with it altogether. Others engage in it in sequence with different partners. Now we have thousands who not only want to support it but to participate in it. So, what do the erstwhile 'defenders of marriage do'? They bash those who want to participate!

Dubya and company are destroying marriage by discouraging those seeking after it most avidly.
