Google-rific! The things one finds when looking up 'economic collapse'

(some of these articles are legitimately scary. Others are created by religious whack-jobs who felt 1993 had the worst administration ever. While that's debateable, and not for the reasons the whackos were implying, that era pales by what the current administration has or has not been doing... indeed, that era was a golden age by comparison even though it was fools' gold...)

...Only the attacks of Sept. 11 and massive intervention from the U.S. Treasury and Federal Reserve prevented the collapse. Investors blamed the ensuing market losses on the attacks.

The situation now is much, much worse as more factors combine to suggest that foreign investors and trust in the U.S. economy might soon be a thing of the past. Your pension is at risk today and your home may be at risk in six months to a year.

One economic analyst has suggested that a nuclear exchange between India and Pakistan might be the perfect cover for the biggest financial wipe out in human history. I think that an ill-conceived and risky invasion of Iraq might serve the same purpose. From consumer confidence, to corporate accounting, to the dollar, to gold, to foreign capital flight, to pension fund wipe outs, to the derivative bubble, to debt, there is not a single economic indicator that is not flashing red.

The warnings are as clear, explicit and well-documented as were the warnings received by the U.S. government throughout summer 2001 that a terrorist attack against the World Trade Center would take place during the week of Sept. 9 using hijacked airliners from United and American airlines. Nothing was done to prevent that and apparently nothing is being done now in spite of the fact that $4.2 trillion of your money has been stolen right in front of your eyes.

There was no single reason for the attacks of 9-11. I have cited oil, drug cash and geopolitics as three of the primary motives for the U.S. government s complicity in allowing the attacks to happen.

Since 1970 this expansion and diffusion of prosperity has stopped, and the Golden Age has been replaced by a Leaden Age, in which economic growth has been accompanied by falling wages and rising unemployment. Real (in terms of purchasing power) average weekly wages peaked in 1973, at $308.03 (1982 dollars), and by 1991 had fallen to $260.37, a decline of 15.5 percent. Yet the productivity of American workers increased by 11 percent over the same period. From 1951 to 1974 unemployment averaged 4.65 percent; from 1975 to 1993 it averaged 6.97 percent.

JUST as household borrowing can sustain the economy, so, too, can borrowing by the federal government. During the 1980s the federal government ran up huge deficits that were financed by borrowing to fund government spending and employment, both of which contributed significantly to demand. A large component of this spending was the defense buildup -- a classic example of military Keynesianism (by no means the best sort of Keynesianism!) at work. The impact of this spending was augmented by large tax cuts for the wealthiest households in the country. A better policy would have been to give the tax cuts to ordinary households, which spend a greater share of their income. Issues of equity aside, we would have achieved the same level of demand with smaller deficits...

...Donald S. McAlvany, in The McAlvany Intelligence Advisor, points out that America is now undergoing "the greatest quantum leap into socialism in the history of our country." He adds,

"America in 1993 has the most wicked, evil, and dangerous leadership in its 217-year history replete with socialists, Marxists, gays and lesbians, pedophiles, moral degenerates, occultists and witchcraft. These people mean to destroy America's Constitution, its families, its traditional way of life, its morals, its heritage, its economy, and its free enterprise/free market system" (MIA, 11/93).

Writes McAlvany, the present government intends to "control the people and to confiscate their wealth" (all capital letters in his original). His readers, he says, "need to use the present time when the stock market is still high, and optimism about the future (albeit pseudo-optimism) is still strong, to get their personal and financial lives reordered; they need to develop a sense of urgency that time is not on their side; and use that time wisely to prepare for the most difficult period in U.S. history" (italics mine; underlining his)...

SNIP (this is one big embarrassing article)

BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING YOU!

Great changes are in the offing. Once the economic collapse becomes reality, we can look forward to (unwillingly) increased government surveillance, monitoring of our personal lives, control over our lives financially, economically, and politically. The government intends that ALL Americans be registered to become part of the new socialized system which is being put into place, even as I write. All Americans will have to have a computerized "smart card" called a national health card, but really a personal identity card, making it possible for the government to "track" you, and virtually know where you are and what you are doing at almost every moment (i.e., every time you go to a store, make a purchase, gas up your car, etc.).

The socialistic state of "Big Brother" is right around the corner!

Warns Donald McAlvany, the American government, under President Bill Clinton, is presently engaged in the most

"gargantuan expansion of centralized power in U.S. history, a giant quantum leap in controlling every aspect of the American peoples' lives (not just health care), in tracking and monitoring the American people and moving us toward a socialist police state and the New World Order."

These total idiots are utter nutjobs who have nary a clue as to what they are talking about. Then or now. They were shoveling empty scare tactics, history has shown Clinton is no socialist of any kind. (NAFTA, DOMA, DMCA, 1996 telecom act, 1995 welfare reform that didn't do anything with corporate welfare, firing Jocelyn Elders, and a lot more proves he's no socialist of any kind). Indeed, they need to look at GEORGE W BUSH'S RELIGIOUS-REICH-WING to see what they are talking about! They also throw around some Bible quotes. I've got a few in return that would put them to dear shame...
