Poll question: How much money will you contribute by November ??
Edited on Mon May-17-04 08:29 PM by welshTerrier2
Man, the dems came calling today ... first, i received a letter from the Kerry campaign asking for a contribution ... then, phone call #1 from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee ... and finally, phone call #2 from Kerry's Boston headquarters looking for money and volunteers ...

i gave money to the DCCC, Kerry and also volunteered to "work the phones" at Kerry's HQ ...

How about a "DU DAY" working the phones at Kerry's HQ in Boston ?? let's pick a Saturday or Sunday to volunteer ...

The poll question is:

How much total cash do you think you will have contributed to Democrats by this November's election (include contributions to federal, state and local candidates) - choose the highest answer that applies ...

2. I've already given
I've already given $2,000 to the Kerry campaign

plus $50 to Senator Russ Feingold's campaign

plus $50 to Joyce Shulte campaign (she is trying to unseat Congressman Steve King (R-Iowa) who recently compared the torture of Iraqi prisoners to a fraternity hazing).

6. spend it where it's needed
I live in culeeforneeya, a bush-free zone & I know my $$$ are being spent in the "battle ground" states. It works for me!

it works for me too ... I live in Massachusetts ... we won't be seeing too many bush ads on the local Boston channels ...

this actually highlights how undemocratic the electoral college system really is ... the truth of the matter is, that if you're not in a battleground state, your vote, at least for president, is essentially meaningless ... i really wish we could elect a president strictly on the popular vote ...

and it's not just your vote that becomes essentially meaningless ... there's less focus on the issues ... people are less energized about current events ... it doesn't really matter whether you convince those right-wingers to vote democratic ...

of course, we still pretend it all matters and do everything we can ... but the current system really does disenfranchise those who don't live in battleground states ...
