John McCain and his love of George Bush!
Just a couple of days ago folks.. May 12th

<snip>
HANNITY: But on defense issues, the most important issue of our time, that your guy is George W. Bush, right?

MCCAIN: He is my guy. I'm campaigning for him. I'm supporting his re-election. I want him to be re-elected. I believe he has led this nation with moral clarity.

2. With McCain as VP
Democrats Will Lose, One Way or the Other

The corrupt media has worked overtime for weeks to railroad Kerry into naming John McCain as his running mate. Now even some top Dems like Joe Biden are buying into the ploy. This would, of course work out just dandy for the Repugs, no matter how it shook down in November. By naming a Repug, Kerry could lose the election by alienating millions of progressive voters, who may decide to go for Nader (groan) after all -- or just stay away from the polls. If he wins, let us not forget that McCain is a REPUBLICAN and as VP will always have the tie-breaking vote in the House of Reps. If Democrats win back enough seats to make the House closer to 50-50, McCain could cancel that gain out. After four years of hell, is it worth the risk?

4. You mean the Senate, not the House, right?
I agree-McCain sometimes votes with Dems on some issues. If he remains as a Senator, he's far more useful in close votes than as VP, where he'd only vote when there's a tie.

5. Agreed but...
The vice president has the tie-breaking vote in the senate, not the house.

3. yeah
But in the same interview he also took the Bush Administration to task for misleading advertising on Kerry's defense record.

I don't think McCain has a chance at being Kerry's Vice President; but he has a good chance of being Secretary of Defense.

7. McCain is an RW "plant-in-waiting."
On his official website, there is not ONE issue statement, only press releases. He's a GOP windsock.

Just my opinion. :-)

9. NO to McCain for VP!
SecDef or SecNav, maybe. But not too close to the prize; I don't want a assassin to decide that the Presidency should change parties.

13. McCain was the original PNAC candidate
in 2000. He should not be appointed to any post, including dog-catcher, in a Democratic administration.

Anyone who realizes the loathesomeness of the PNACer means and goals will also loathe the PNACer generated insistence upon McCain for veep.

McCain is Democratic PNACers Will Marshall etal Trojan Horse booby trap for uninformed, gullible Democrats.

10. Yes, I'm sure McCain LOVES Bush...
after spreading those rumors in South Carolina about fathering an illegitimate child. I'm sure that endeared McCain to Bush. :eyes:

McCain is just playing ball because he knows he'd be a victim of the Bush smear campaign if he spoke out against Bush.

11. Straight Machiavelli
Fear is better than love, according to 'The Prince'.

I don't care if he fears him OR loves him; he supports him and I don't want him too close to the Presidency.

12. ...and yet he gets a daily group hug from the anti-Bush crowd. Go figure.
Maybe it's the soft-spoken manner in which he declares his love for Dubya. Maybe it's because he avoids the whiny, snarky tone of a Dennis Miller or Sean Hannity. It's great that McCain is a war hero, or whatever we'd like to call him. He's also dropped the soap in George W. Bush's shower many, many, many times...and he really seems to enjoy doing so.

14. McCain is a Republican? How astonishing!
Especially in today's hyperpartisan atmosphere, politicians have to go along to get along in their party. McCain says he's for Bush, but he's defended Kerry and exploded Bush campaign lies often enough to make it clear that at least he finds the truth more important than a Bush victory.

When the dust settles and Kerry is in the White House, we will need Republicans like McCain - grownups who can stand to tell and hear the truth, even if we don't agree with them about much of anything. There will are gonna be both Democrats and Republicans no matter what. Even if we win both houses (highly unlikely), we will need to work with the minority.

That's been one of the biggest things wrong with the Bush administration - they think they are in office to rule, not to govern, and they overlook no opportunity to lord it over the minority party. This is a grave threat to democracy, which is built on the understanding that all factions will observe a fundamental respect for the values and prerogatives of all the other factions (if not, why should the minority abide by the decisions of the majority?).

If we get into office and then act like Bush & co, we will make things worse (in the long run), not better. That means we need to differentiate between Bush and his cronies and grownup Republicans like McCain who we can work with, if not always agree with.

As for the Vice President thing, McCain has said No about a million times.
