George & Bab's neighbor/friend asked what my "BUSH LIHOP" button meant!

This woman and I have the same grad school fellowship and get along pretty well (even though I knew she was a repub from TX -- BUT she didn't know I knew).

Every week there's a fellow's seminar and she first noticed my "FUCK BUSH" pin (my political leanings are well known) and then the LIHOP one. She pointed to it and asked me what it meant.

I explained to her what it meant, contrasted it with MIHOP and told her I was undecided which I felt was closer to the truth. Her eyes widened, she smiled a bit and turned away. My friend overheard the conversation and said to me after, "What were you thinking? Do you know her parents are the Bushes neighbors. They're all, like, really, really good friends."

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!

I hope she tells them, though, I now of course fear for my life.

and like the weather in Cuba.

Although it's really too bad no one in the vicinity had a video camera or even a cell phone that can do clips: I'm sure most of DU would have LOVED to have seen her reaction in real time.

and if they dared to audit me, they'd have to explain why they fund us so poorly and then don't allow us to work more than 10 hours a week.

I make so little (and have no investments) that an audit would be laughable. And, I actually "tell the truth" on my taxes.

LIHOP = Let It Happen On Purpose.

MIHOP = Made It Happen On Purpose.

Nearly all of Bush's inner circle (and their assistants) had publicly advocated radical, agressive action against Iraq and other MisEast countries, but they acknowledged they wouldn't be able to fully implement such a plan without what they called "something like a new Pearl Harbor."

Given such statements, their general reputation for ruthlessness and covert shenannigans, and some of the intelligence/security failures and other oddities around 9/11, some people have speculated:

LIHOP: Let It Happen On Purpose: The Bush people ignored warnings of some sort of terrorist action not simply out of colossal arrogance but in order to allow something they could use as an excuse for action (though they were likely caught off guard by the scale of the 9/11 attacks).

MIHOP: Made It Happen On Purpose: suggests a more active role, that the Bushies had a direct hand in the unfolding of events that day.
