I'm cable challenged these days. I am sure Repugs are talking about this ad nauseum. Does this have legs?

1. On CBS
It got an unremarkable mention on the CBS news. The Newsweek item about the WH council memo got more time.

2. It was still playing out on faux news this morning. I haven't/can't
see if they are still playing it out. Can't stomach it. This morning they were "speculating" a mass warehouse of sarin. It was very pathetic.

4. Fox is running the whole WMD schtick again. Otherwise is didn't
dominate the news. You gotta hand it to the crooked bastards, they are gonna go down fighting.

16. Did you look at their website
It says something like "Gallon of sarin" used in explosive, I just glanced at it. They will not let it go. Funny how the other two big cable news networks don't have one word about any "gallon" of sarin on their websites. I guess they don't know what Faux does.

5. No legs... Yawn
Its an old shell from the eighties. The "insurgents" or whatever they are called didn't even know that it was a chemical bomb. A non issue.

6. I only heard news reports casually, so . . .
I am not sure what sources I heard (i know it *wasn't* Faux).

I was encouraged that the coverage I did catch basically said that: (1) it is far from clear that the Sarin was part of any sort of Iraqi WMD stockpile; and (2) the sarin may have been acquired back when the US helping and encouraging Iraq to get chem weapons.

Is it just me, or has the US media improved perceptibly over the past 2 months or so?

I think most big outlets realized what a bad hit their credibility took
with all the jumping they did with every pesticide drum found during the initial invasion, and are rightly very wary about this.

Since Fox doesn't have to sweat credibility, since their viewers/listeners are true believers and everyone else knows they are propaganda, they can shamelessly pimp this kind of "news" over and over again with little or no consequence.

We'll have to get control of the WH and congress and perhaps push for some legislative guidlines on what can fairly be labelled "journalism" and what has to be labelled political advertising, op/ed, propaganda etc.

8. It got quiet when

an arms expert stated that the shell was a United States caliber artillery round from the '80s. Then draw your own conclusion;

2+2= the Reagan/Bush/Rummy sold it to Sadam to gas the Iranians. Wooops!

14. Someone called into C-Span to tell the guest that a 155mm shell
comes from an American howitzer. The caller got cut off immediately and the host said the caller broke the rules about calling in once a month.

9. Last night I turned on CNN.
Mind you I have sworn off ALL TV news, cable or otherwise. I just get pissed off. But there was the rerunning of the earlier Larry King. The first part of King's segment had Lindsey(puke)Graham, Evan Bah(? I think) and Whore Judith Miller. They were talking about the abuse scandal. I swear it was sickening, it was so phoney, so theatrical. I can't believe this is what America watches. Anyway the point of my story is the caption on the screen at the bottom said "WMD Found In Iraq?". The segment wasn't even about that supposed sarin bs story. But if you weren't listening to what was being said, and you read the caption, it was misleading you to believe that was the topic that was being discussed.

Before Larry King, Paula Zahn was on. Her guest was Jeanne Meserve and they were spinning about the 9-11 Commission meeting in New York. All I can tell you is that it was disgusting the way they lie and spin and cover-up. And the acting is sooooooooo bad. I just can't believe that the American public can buy this crap night after night after night. They must think we are the most ignorant lot.

I will not be watching the news again.

15. That was sickening, but the Colin Powell interview
on MTP was amazing. Russert was trying to get Powell to open up. His press aide tried to stop the interview, camera went black, Powell said "turn the camera back on please". Russert made a comment afterwards. Very telling.

10. NBC gave it a couple sentences...
...at the end of a report of a lot of other stuff from Iraq. Mentioned that it was an old, unmarked shell.

11. No legs... at least so far.
CNN was very matter-of-fact about it. Just a 2 minute report on NewsNight yesterday. A blurb here and there on American Morning.

Very telling: ABC's "The Note" daily political review DID NOT EVEN MENTION THE STORY.

Between the Mass. gay marriage and the Brown v. Board of Ed. 50th anniversary stories, I'm amazed that even the IGC President assassination got any play.

and as usual, full of bombast, which he mistakes for intelligent commentary, and jumping on the Dems, making up absolutely the most incredible stuff as he went along. Pathetic as usual.
