Draft
On Rhandi Rhodes right now the Innactive Reserve faces recall starting
on July 1st

Now translation to all of you who do not get it yet....

We have run out of bodies.

The actual draft is not far behind, I will even go on a limb and say BEFORE the election.... those ready inactive reserve people will only plug the holes while Draftees get inducted and hastily trained

1. Don't think before, here's why:
Bush doesn't care how many soldiers are there, just as long as the oil fields are protected.

Besides the 17,000 who will go right over, they are finally taking troops from South Korea right now and rotating them in. So they not only have their rotation for the year to March 2005 covered, they also have between the IRR and the South Korean division the extra troops just asked for by Myers.

BUSH 'O4 = DRAFT '05 (not '04)

You should mention what Kerry's plan is on the military and that he shows how the country can avoid a draft next year.

2. Record college vote ?????

We can get these folks out in droves. I dare say that even College Republicans would vote for Kerry if they think they could be drafted.

3. I stand by what I said

the last time that this reserve was mobilized was WW II...

They will not be able to avoid getting the wheels moving, and it is a good way to avoid early inductees from voting as well...

I have the sneaky that we will see a draft VERY FAST

5. No, Budgetary
Edited on Tue May-18-04 09:01 PM by happyslug
While the Federal Government Budget is now October 1 till September 30, some other budgets are still July 1st till June 30th. Thus July 1st is Still a new budget year for some budget purposes (and at least a new Quarter).

Thus the reason for July 1st is that if it was before July 1st, Congress would have to address the issue of funding before the end of the current budget year (September 30). This is something Bush does NOT want, Bush prefers to delay as much costs acknowledgment till after January 1, 2005 (i.e. AFTER THE ELECTION). Thus I believe is why the troops are being called up July 1st instead of before June 30th.
