2. Bill Nelson is a right-wing Republican
How can we trust Kerry, if his first decision is that bad?

4. Bill Nelson is a Florida Progressive.... and a genuine hero
in his own right... NASA Astronaut and military career.

He is a darn nice guy and so is his wife.

He exudes confidence, but perhaps lacks a little in charisma.

He is NOT a Republican!!!!!!!! or Republican lite.

He is somewhat to the left of Florida's senior Senator Bob Graham.

On occasions when I have met Bill in public and private, he has never struck as anything but an honest and genuine Democrat.

7. That's completely false. Nelson'd be a bad choice given our options
but he's no republican or right-winger

I can't stand to look at the guy.

His painful way of speaking is very hard to endure, too.

(edited for style)

5. Chosing Bill Nelson over Bob Graham would be the height of idiocy
Edited on Wed May-19-04 02:46 AM by Bombtrack
Bob Graham if not the most popular politician in Florida is definetly the most popular democrat by a wolloping margin, unlike Nelson who barely won his election 3 and half years ago. Not that Florida is all Graham has going for him in a major sense. He's been a successful governor of a large, complex state. He chaired the intelligence committee and has been making the case that we need to make to win this election in the senate, that Bush and the neocons focus on Iraq took their eyes of the real terrorism ball, and they've been avoiding admitting their conflict of interest with the Saudi's. He's got all the foreign/domestic/social/economic issue experience and expertise wrapped up and therefor knows his shit better and is more prepared than any other contender I believe. He knows where the bodies are burried and he doesn't have to worry about preparing himself to be president later on down the road or even for another term as vp.

Not only that, but Nelson used to live at the "fellowship" house with all those other religious nutbags in congress

8. Agree... I don't see the logic in going for Nelson
If they are going to choose someone from FL, Graham makes far more sense. At this point, Graham is who I expect him to choose though I don't think the state of FL should be the reason as it's too much of a wildcard with Jeb pulling strings there. In terms of a perfect balance of Domestic and FP experience, Graham makes the most sense, especially since the focus of the electorate will likely be switching back and forth between these issues.

6. Oh, Jesus Christ, not a intel freak DINO.
Is this supposed to scare us into McCain's arms?

Nelson is so tied in with the military/corporate elite that he's on the quadlateral commission.
