Two new Chick tracts!
"Birds and the Bees"--one of Jack's tracts for younger readers, two "sodomites," a married gay couple, go into Ms Henn's classroom to recruit the young'uns for Satan (or some damn thing); Fundie Suzy gets three of her classmates saved. Read the shocking truth at http://www.chick.com/reading/tracts/1052/1052_01.asp

"Unloved"--you've seen the classic bumper sticker "Jesus loves you--everyone else thinks you're an asshole." If this is true, "Unloved" is for you. Check it out at http://www.chick.com/reading/tracts/1018/1018_01.asp

I love Chick because he shows that through hard work and diligence you can be completely full of shit...his entire theology violates James 2:14-26. According to Chick, all you have to do to make the Book of Life is to pray. According to the Bible, faith without works is dead. Which makes Flight 144 so laugh-out-loud funny...here you have a missionary and his wife, who built hospitals in Africa for fifty years, getting thrown in the fiery pit because They Weren't Recruiting Enough Chick Tract Readers. Hmm...something tells me that if you're a Missionary Who Builds Hospitals For The Lord, you pray a lot and even under Chick's screwed-up interpretation of the Bible, God will let you in.

1. Don't forget...
If you use any Bible other than the King James Version, you're going straight to hell. This goes double for anyone who celebrates Halloween, plays AD&D, or has Irish blood.

3. Damn.
I'm screwed on all three of those last points. Than again I'm a "satan worshiping witch" too. I think that one would be a little bit more important in Chick's eyes.

16. It's all important to Chick
Here's a tract I hadn't seen before...Sin Busters--it opens with three cops beating the shit out of a guy for posting the Ten Commandments on a school bulletin board while three feet away, a guy's doing a drug deal and they don't bother him at all! (Note to any drug dealers who may be reading this: according to Jack Chick, if you send someone into the school to post the Ten Commandments on the bulletin board, you're free to stand right on the steps and sell all the smack you want while three cops flail the living shit out of the guy you sent in, and they won't do anything to you!)

6. Jack Chick
As a former Dungeons & Dragons player (who still likes to game when he can, but finds his time limited due to real life...), I used to love that Jack Chick D&D strip about Blackleaf committing suicide when her D&D character died. The Mystery Science Theater 3000 out-take on it was even better!

I'm 36 and still playwhen I can find people to game with. I'm in the process of buying a house and I'm keeping the "game room" in mind. :)

7. Dont' forget...
if you're a teacher, pro-choice, and don't donate 10% of your income you're a terrorist or heathen.

I sent my daughter to a Christian school for two semesters - there was no Halloween, Harry Potter and the Lord of the Rings were not permissible talk, kids were asked not to participate in activities like Karate (it may lead to the worship of a false god), parents were not to smoke or drink, and on and on and on.

It's tough to be an open-minded person around so many with closed minds.

So it has to be true.

Right?

22. King James was allegedly a "sodomite", however
At least, he was bi-sexual. The commoners sometimes referred to him as "Queen Jimmy".

20. Wait a minute. What's up with the Irish part?
I first saw the Chick tracts back in the 1970s and have seen various brouhahas break out over them. I haven't run across anything on the Irish -- yet -- not that I'm seeking out Chick tracts.

28. My favorite actually wasn't a chick tract.
It was a pagan "knockoff" for the Yule holiday. www.electricsheep.com is where it used to be at, but the site is currently being rebuilt.

9. awesome
Unfortunately, I cannot find the MST3K outtake on it anymore. That was hysterically funny - "you know it can't be a real D&D game because there are 3 females at the gaming table!"

21. Ironically , 'Flight 144' is a confirmation of Dawkins' 'Religion Meme'
ie that the important bit about a religion is not what it says about how you live your life, but how the idea is passed on to other people.

I reckon that if more Christians thought like Chick, Christianity would overnight become as widespread as Satan worshippers, ie a tiny bunch of nuts with a tenuous link on reality.

And the Jesuits are the CIA of the Catholic Church. The Dominicans are the FBI. Or vice versa, I forget.

I had a whole set of full-size Chick comics that were a riot. Here are the covers of my favorites:

35. Jack Chick and communism
If you go to Jack Chick's web site, you'll find this interesting paragraph:

http://www.chick.com/information/authors/chick.asp

"One day, Bob Hammond, missionary broadcaster of The Voice of China and Asia, told Jack that multitudes of Chinese people had been won to Communism through mass distribution of cartoon booklets. Jack felt that God was leading him to use the same technique to win multitudes to the Lord Jesus Christ."

In other words, this is an idea that came out of the communist movement that was used by Jack Chick. Jack Chick admits he was inspired to do this by the communist movement. Very odd.

36. Chick believes that prayer cures cancer....
I had a heated email exchange with one of his brainwashed staffers over a tract that had a girl be cured of cancer after she prayed.

Since my dad died of cancer despite praying, I disagreed with that viewpoint.
