We are falling into the GOP trap with Arnold - yet again
Why are we giving so much attention to Arnold? His "pawing" women, his limited acting abilities, how his wife looks like an exoskeleton?
The GOP has again defined the debate, and we are taking the bait. Take a look at any progressive website, and there will be a half dozen links to an Arnold story. Instead of focusing on the negatives involved, again, we should be putting forth a positive image with information regarding democratic candidates.

It's a lock that Davis won't be re-elected. The obstacle course was designed to trip him up at the start.

Why are we not promoting the top two or three people running for the spot on the Democratic side?

1. Who are we?
The media is the one promoting Arnold. People here are trying to figure out a way to defeat him.

We don't control the media, the right does.

2. only one choice on Democratic side...
that's Bustamante. I know time is short, but let's for a second relax and realize that things are extremely chaotic at the moment. We still have two months to go. Of course Bustamante will campaign. Let's get our stuff together and start campaigning.

6. I'm glad Cruz is running.
I've starting to notice that even here in LA where most of the press is basically bending over for Arnold, there are a LOT of hard hitting questions. Of course Arnold just smiles and gives his stock responce about being a "Gub-A-Nor for the piple ov Cali-fornie-a".

I don't give a shit about his personal past. He is NOT qualified to run the state, period.

7. Thank you sir!
We should ask Arnold how will he cut taxes and keep the state running at this time. The states Tax Base has been destroyed by the DOT COM Bubble!!! There are no other choices but to cut spending and raise taxes to match the cuts in spending. You can't Cut Taxes and increase spending unless Arnie and co are going to raid the State Pension fund!

10. That the question being asked.
The press is starting to hound his muscle bond ass in that one. He has no website, no postion papers .... nothing. He's riding this free press from the media whores.

The LA Times today talked about how Arnold has only 58 days to try and come up with answers. He should debate. I'd like to see him try and stand up to REAL questions.

12. Even Bill Simon has a web site
http://billsimon.org

You'd think Arnold would have hired someone to make one for him already...

21. His "site."
That parody site was amusing last year. He has some committee he's formed with a site, but no campaign site.

I suspect he's trying to get Arnie to support a right-wing fiscal platform in exchange for dropping out. McClintock would be most likely--I suspect--to continue to the end.

8. bustamante is the one
And I don't think the lock is quite in. Remember if he gets 46% and Arnold gets 23 % arnold will be governor. WE MUST RECALL HIm it will only take 12% of the signatures of the electorate in a special election. I predict that there will be enough angry Democrats around to do that petition in time for the March Primary

3. Good point. Why not approach the calif voter with RESPECT.......
and calmly and collectively (and unceasingly) point out the benefits of our candidate .....and the innanity of voting for Arnold.

Wouldn't it be GREAT if Arnold went down in flames with only 5% of the vote? TAKE THAT KARL!

4. The Republicans look at the negatives and win
The reason Gore didn't win bigger is that he didn't call Bush on his military record and other factors that would have made a difference to most voters.

5. What fun is that?
I mean it's so much more fun to slam into Ahnold. Like many people I only have a limited amount of time each day to spend on politics, and I want that time to be as enjoyable as possible. What sounds like more fun to you;

1.) Picking a liberal candidate and arguing with other progressives about whether he's "electable" or "progressive" or "better" than other candidates.

2.) Making fun of an easy target like Arnold.

I think you know the answer.

In seriousness though--this is a good post--one of the things President Bush had going for him was the way we constantly lowered the bar for him by focusing on his lack of intelligence.

9. Davis needs to resign. It's the right thing to do.
Davis' political career is over already. He needs to resign for the good of the Party. No Davis, no recall election, no Arnold.

11. Won't happen
The recall will still go on even if Davis resigned. It would however take a lot of the wind out of the sails.
