At least you dont have tabloid newspapers
Ok for all the brits on here this is redundant, but hey. A hell of a lot of people in Britain get ALL their political information from two tabloid papers, the Sun and the Mirror. One is pretty left and the other really right winged. It's a bit of a shock to me because while I'm British I havent lived in Britain long, but honestly there arent news articles in these, its just editorials. They completely polarise the issues one way or another it's unbelievable that it is permitted. Give it ten more years and our stupid people will be as dumb as your stupid people.

junk food that "passes" as journalism. Its tabloid TV which "informs" far too many people. Brace yourself if Fox news comes your way. :scared:

On edit--Welcome to DU :hi:

3. When Fox News has the allure of topless women,
then I guess we'll be even! Bloody Murdoch!

2. TV news is any better?
10% get their news from Bill O'Really, who is a celebrity tabloid actor. How could British tabloids possibly any worse than US "News" TV?

4. Ewww, Neil Cavuto!
We get Fox News over here on satellite. Yeah it sucks balls, but I'm morbidly drawn to it. I guess the best way of describing it is that I want to laugh and cry at the same time.

5. A sample of the news presentation of the tabloids
tomorrow, the headlines are all "THIS MAN MIGHT HAVE KILLED BLAIR" "THEY COULD ALL BE DEAD", each taking up about a quarter of the front page. The rest of the front pages are photos of a bit of purple powder hitting Blair. Things like the killing of 40 people at a wedding in Iraq will be relegated to page 6 or 7, I expect.

Their rule of thumb for headlines, and their news in general, isn't quite "if it bleeds, it leads"; more "make our readers cower in fear". If there's no way of invoking a physical threat, they'll say that some piece of news is likely to make house prices plummet.
