Democratic operatives form group to stop Nader
Top Democratic operatives have formed an independent group that will run TV ads attempting to blunt Ralph Nader's impact in at least six battleground states, sources told CNN Wednesday.

The move comes as presumptive Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry offered an olive branch of sorts to Nader, meeting with him in private Wednesday afternoon after the independent candidate had complained that the Kerry camp was ignoring him.

In a written statement, Nader's campaign described the meeting as "productive and positive" and said the "dialogue" would continue.

Sources told CNN the two men talked about several issues including campaign finance and corporate responsibility. But, the sources said, there was no discussion about the war in Iraq, nor any mention of Nader getting out of the race.

2. he will get more votes this year than in '00
those college kids are rebellious and over 60% identify themselves as independant. And they reject being ordered who to vote for, and if they don't then they are supporting the enemy. Its going to be ugly in november.

3. I disagree. He may still get many young college voters
but the college voters of 2000 are now young adults who will know better. My sister in law is one. She has stated very firmly she will in no way support Nader this year. Her sister said the same thing (and she is a college Senior this year).

Many of the "adults" (non college students) who supported Nader would also abandon him I would think.

5. "ordered"
No one is "ordering" anyone about how to vote. Pointing out how splintering the non-Bush vote helps Bush is not "ordering".

9. why wasn't this group formed...
months ago to keep bush from cheating in states where he qualified to late to get on the ballot thanks to the unprecedented lateness of the GOP 9-11 Exploitationfest, i mean national convention?

instead of worrying about ralph's handful of voters the DNC made a huge mistake in missing an opportunity to keep democratic legislatures from making exceptions in statewide election laws for bush
