My dear God, What A Double Horrible Day.................
Today I feel like the world dropped into my living room. Sometime this morning I flipped on tv to "get the news". I was about 10 minutes into it when the unedited video of the Israeli attack in Gaza on the Palestinians came through. As a mother and an devoted, protective grandma to two little boys, I found myself yelling outloud to an empty house. Dear Jesus....I saw a parade of elementary through early teen young boys being rushed to emergency vehicles by families, teachers, etc. What a look of "mom/dad help me--what's happend to me--I hurt" on their young innocent faces. We prick assed Americans swooned when Clinton was being impeached and asked "what do we tell the children"?? Well, maybe those useless shitbags who were so concerned about that would like to come up with something diversional and cleaver to tell these kids!!!---but don't worry..tonight, as we speak some of them are DEAD. It's going to be hard to say something to sooth those who are tonight only missing parts of their bodies, etc. and are in a pain that any American adult absolutely insists that the Doc give them mega-pain killers for. I hope this made a lot of Americans throw up tonight--I doubt it because the videos have been cleaned up. Wouldn't want to worry our pretty heads, would we---yawn, is there a good "reality" show on tonight. Why don't we do pain and suffering, kid style, in Palestine tonight to give us that extra high thrill??? I had to drive 45 minutes to my nearest grandson's house and hug him today......and I just cried inside for the mothers over there tonight.

Then I saw the pictures of the wedding party we shot to hell in Iraq. I'm four weeks away from my youngest child's wedding. What a fun time and such hopes for the future. A bunch of Iraqi's tonight are facing a bit different newlywed future---lying side by side in a grave. Americans, do you think it's still time to call up where they were "registered" and cancel the gift?????? Oh, maybe tonight we can get one of the bachelor/bachelorette reality tv programs on or go to the wedding channel and see how M/M Joe's wedding turned out.

The day we tune into REAL reality, maybe God will forgive us for not caring much about stuff that happens to ragheads.............

1. It seems to get more depressing each and every day
It is ironic people used to be in a tizzy about Clinton's indiscretions (which killed no one), and that's nothing compared to what we see now on a regular basis.

4. I used to think that the spread of democracy would make the world safer.
But each morning I wake up to news of new atrocities...committed by democracies. How naive I was!

2. The tradgedy gets worse when * won't condemn the acts of the Israeli's
and the pentagon denies they killed a group of people gathered for a wedding. They won't confirm if children were killed in the process.

This administration has mastered the art of compounding tragic events.

8. ...
...Associated Press Television News footage showed a truck containing bloodied bodies, many wrapped in blankets, piled one atop the other. Several were children, one of whom was decapitated. The body of a girl who appeared to be less than 5 years of age lay in a white sheet, her legs riddled with wounds and her dress soaked in blood...

9. Oh, now I get it.
A decapitation for a decapitation. <heavy sarcasm>.

As a mother of 4 small boys, my heart aches tonight.

This is a puzzle I have been working on for a very long time, but I have never been able to figure it out. Sorry for referring again to the Vietnam War (it's been on my mind a lot these days), but the same thing happened then. Those who sported "America Love It or Leave It" bumper stickers on their cars just didn't care about Vietnamese kids who were burned alive by napalm. They just didn't care. It was the (supposed) honor of America; it was an American "victory" that concerned them.

6. happyending--------it's all about standing up, putting your beer down
for a brief moment and shouting USA USA USA--we're number one. You goddamn right we are #1....lying, hypocritical murdering greedy bastards, that is. Eventually we will reap what we sow---'cause those ugly ragheads are sitting on the oil that will bring this excuse for a country to it's knees. And then maybe they can beg the world to "feel sorry for them" (that should get far..........)

7. Your post made me think about
what happened today at work. Two of my co-workers were going on and on about some dumb a$$ reality show that was on last night. I thought to myself how shallow minded can you be?! I felt inclined to tell them exactly how I felt but decided against it as my blood pressure would have surely gone through the ceiling. Is this all people ever think about? Is it any wonder we as a nation are in the state we are in? Waaaaake up people. Your (our) country is going to hell in a handbasket.

10. sweettater--you know what is even sicker??
The cable news all day long has segments that "dish the dirt" about all these people on all these reality shows. I kid you not. Who emerged on Survior is like the next breath after "a bunch of GI's got their brains blown out in Iraq today".....this, for christ's sake is now NEWS. No wonder these people cannot seperate fact from fiction these days.

11. Here's what I recently put up with, seettater,
and it's typical of what I hear around my area. A group of people standing around and bitching about how the media are so liberal and stick it to Bush every chance they can get.

This, while Limbaugh is playing in the background. preceded by Glenn Beck and followed by Sean Hannity.

Geez! It's the dumbing down of America, I tell ya!

12. It's racism and bigotry on steroids
Israel and the U.S. are not killing human beings. They are killing brown people who have an "unacceptable" religion, aren't going to heaven anyway, are heathens, and "might come get us if we let them".

It's really just that godawful and simple. That is what a large percentage of people in this country "think/believe".

It is sick. It is disgusting. It is revolting.

George W. Fucking Bush is the leader of that thought and it allows Murkins to think the same way...gives them an excuse, a cover.

There is NO moral leadership in this country. None. We have become completely amoral.

I share your disgust.

13. Jacobin--it's a small step from the "wink, wink" racial hatred
in certain parts of this nation that their ugly bastard Congressmen promote and condone, to feeling so free and happy to be able to celebrate the killing of the bastard children of not only "people of other color" but also not even Christians like those "blacks (and you know what word they really use instead of "blacks")in this country. This gives a person a double reason to break out the moonshine and feel all good inside.

15. I grieve right beside you.
I can't wrap my mind around it, nor would I want to.

Children shot down in the street, and the NPR drone saying something to the effect of, "Well, that's the Palestinian side of it...Israel denies that shots were intentionally fired into a crowd of civilians...extreme remorse for the deaths of civilians..." Unarmed civilians...children.

It's an obscene, absurd, horrific world we live in, where two aggressor nations are allowed to pillage, destroy and murder at will, all the while claiming terrorist victim status. I think it's abundantly clear to the rest of the world who the true terrorists are, and yet it continues.

Some days, I have to wonder if rational minds, let alone moral and humane minds, will ever prevail. :(

16. Suspicious---the official word from Israel was that their gunship was
shooting into a vacant area. Thank god they clarified that. Apparently, then when the Palestinians saw that, they gathered up their children and threw them into the vacant area so they could soak up the bullets. What horseshit. What pure horseshit. Tell me, Sharon, what the hell were your guys firing into a "vacant area" for??? Was that their orders??--hey, guys, we need to send a gunship to blow up a goddamn vacant lot....yep, and please tell me more about the tooth fairy and Alice in Wonderland. They must have learned the art of lying from our regime (i.e, "shut the fuck up...what you see with your own eyes, world, never happened).

18. Vacant area...
How much longer can they get away with lieing that way? "Vacant area" my ass. And how can anyone continue to support such atrocities? One would have to be anti-human and downright evil to not be against such wanton destruction and death. Anti-human and evil. Damn them all!

Blessed be the peacekeepers. Peace.

17. What really strikes me is everyone's losing
We seem to be in an almost surrealistically violent and brutal period. And no one is winning. I guess a few corporations are cleaning up, but all the people and all the governments involved are losing bigtime. It's kind of a testament to human stupidity and brutality, I guess.

On a lighter, but also depressing note, a couple of weeks ago I heard someone at work saying they were sending off an angry e-mail to Fox. I thought it was outrage about some biased news coverage, but no, it had something to do with American Idol. And this is a liberal and political office, but not universally so, I guess.

19. It made me very sad this morning when I logged on
to CNN and saw a picture of Palestinian adults running down the street with injured children in their arms. I didn't keep the picture, but it showed a man running with a boy in his arms and buildings smoking behind him. The composition of the photo reminded me of the one of 911 in which there are some men running down the street and the towers are smoking behind them.

Sharon + Bush = EVIL (I don't use this word often, but it sure fits these two.)

And I am appalled that ANY American can still believe in * and his warmongering.

and after i figured out what the hell i was looking at the rage started building and then i saw "The advisor to PM Sharon" on cnn saying do not dare codemn us, we are investigating, they may have done it themselves, they have charges set all around the area all to make us look bad. I couldnt believe what this man was saying, it was a fucking outrage and then monkey boy doesnt condemn it! WTF??? I saw later in the afternoon the the UN council passed a resoltuion of condemnation agaisnt Israel for what they had done today and also for other activities going on right now, the US abstained from the vote.

21. Well, I'm sure that
certain posters in the I/P forum (and they know who the hell they are, too) who get their jollies off every time Israel sticks it to those "demonic Palestinian children" (THEIR words, NOT MINE, if you can believe anyone on this board could actually think that way), and who are always whining about the "lack of outrage" when innocent Israelies are murdered (I don't know what "lack of outrage" they're talking about, because such murders are roundly and rightfully condemned) must be pretty satisfied with events tonight.

But, of course, we all know that Israeli victims ALWAYS mean more than Palestinian victims and we all know that the Palestinians all ask for it because they're ALL, every last one of them, men, women, children, babies, terrorists. Yeah, sure! :puke: :puke: :puke: :puke: :puke: :puke: :puke: :puke: :puke: :puke: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr:

Delusional thinking produces Madness.

Positive forces produces positive results. Its a no brainer.

Its been a while since we tried Positive approaches. Perhaps, too long.

Thank you for describing some of this stuff. I do not watch the shit anymore. Your remark about the hand-wringing over Clinton's blowjob story and the BS "dilemma" of "what do we tell our kids" in relation to all of this hell was so right on. What a sick society.
I think this stuff is realy starting to affect me. Kind of an "I don't believe in reality" thing. If I was asked what I felt about the last 4 years, I would probably go off like Billy Crudup's character in "Waking The Dead" where he let his family in on how bad it got for him..."and it doesn't stop! And it just keeps coming!!!"
It just keeps coming. And it won't stop.
