be able to reach a point where we render the cable and media monopolies powerless?

What prevents us from promoting a communications culture that invests in the forms of media distribution which make it easy for people to get their information from independent sources, such as over the web. This forum alone has educated more than 40,000 people. How could Fox's content possible compare with some of the great content sites out here. We might think of modifying the information architecture to be more "TV like".

Don't we need to move the battle to OUR space?

1. Cable TV is already on the broadband link, is it not?
The media conglomerates control the cable infrastructure. We better start worrying that they might try to limit our use of the internet. They could cut a lot of people out just by charging ridiculous prices for bandwidth usage.

2. Its getting close to that tipping point.
With ever cheaper and more efficient computer hardware and software, the production of streaming media is actually now within the economic and technical reach of almost anyone. Broadband saturation will have to be more ubiquitous and the throughput will need to be more efficient before popular television culture will dominantly be delivered over broadband. Better wireless technologies may soon make the wire to the house obsolete and will accellerate the process.

We already are taking advantage of internet delivery by streaming Air America all over the world.
