JINSA starts the US run up to an attack on Syria
Syria: Stuck Between Iraq and a WMD Cache
Damascus Aiding Anti-Coalition Insurgency in Iraq

Syrian efforts to undermine the stabilization and rebuilding of Iraq has put the regime of President Bashar al-Assad on a crash course with the United States. In addition to rising suspicions that at least part of Saddam's weapons of mass destruction (WMD) program was spirited into Syria prior to Operation Iraqi Freedom with the assistance of senior Syrian Baath Party officials, intelligence officials in Washington have acknowledged mounting evidence that money from Syria is helping to fund anti-coalition terrorists in Iraq, hundreds of whom have entered Iraq from Syria.

2. A new plan?
Turn over phoney sovereignty to Iraq puppet gov. In mid July
start lobbing missles on Syria, attack with planes. pound their foces and military targets then the cities and then send in troops to mop up and change the regime.

4. A-yup. That's the plan.
Can't have all these troops hiking out of Iraq with nowhere to go. Just march them straight over to Syria!

Actually, I have a hard time believing that Bush will be allowed to start another war. Neither Congress nor the Pentagon would allow it. Just isn't going to happen.

5. so maybe the troops will come home...
... to implement martial law:

"So, let's look at this from the NeoCon point of view. Their wars are stalled, the world knows the wars are based on lies and deceptions, and Americans are starting to resent spending their money and children's blood to conquer the Mideast for the NeoCon's masters. They NEED an event that will scare the people of the United States into accepting whatever dictates they are handed. ...

Therefore, when Bush hits his panic button, look for a staged terror attack involving a biological threat, possibly Anthrax (of which the US has the largest stockpile in the world) to hit several cities at once coast to coast. Bush and the NeoCons will announce an immediate state of emergency, requiring suspension of all civil rights while house to house searches are made for the "terrorists", who are "known" to be in possession of more of these ampoules of germs."

6. Also where's the oil?
Gotta have oil reserves in order to be liberated these days.
Maybe we will just use nukes instead.

and Senate as well as in the Pentagon: read Wolfowitz, Rumsfeld et al. Syria is next in line although the methods of dealing with Syria probably haven't been decided.

Election years are always a boost to AIPAC’s policy conference banquet, a glittery, ostentatious gathering that routinely draws throngs of lawmakers, administration officials, diplomats and political wannabees from both parties.

Monday’s event, held at the cavernous DC armory, was no exception.

According to this year’s “roll call,” with AIPAC leaders calling out the names of politicians present and the crowd registering the guests’ relative popularity, about half the Senate and some 177 members of the House enjoyed the chicken, wrapped asparagus and super-sized portions of political schmoozing.

Lieberman, Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle (D-S.D.), House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-Texas) and Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif) all elicited big cheers.

Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs William Burns received a friendly welcome — despite his comments earlier in the day criticizing the accelerating Israeli campaign in Rafah. n
