Another Side Of Nick Berg
I ran across this on a radio-related website, thought I'd share it with the class...

http://www.fybush.com/nerw.html

A couple of interesting excerpts:

Why did he go to Iraq?

He was aware that some towers were damaged last year during bombing missions, and many more had been looted... copper lines removed, diagonal members taken out, etc. Few obstruction lighting systems were functional -- he mentioned an 800 foot tower two miles from an airport (used by our military) that was totally dark. So he first went over in December to see if he could help to assist in the reconstruction, restore Iraq's broadcast services, and repair the serious structural damage that endangered the lives of their citizens.

I received the following email message from Nick in early January:

"About Iraq- I am taking photos - where allowed. It's actually pretty sad - I just got off one of two 320 meter monster towers in Abu Gharib (also home to the main political prison) which use to support most of Baghdad area's VHF and UHF. Both have been badly looted, including 4000 feet or more of flexible 6-1/8" heliax, two full 12X4 panel TV antennas, and even some structural members. I was also in the North as I mentioned, but here there wasn't as much damage. I'll definitely share some of these pix with you and others next time I'm in the area - I'd love to put together a little presentation for SBE or PAB in about six monthes after I've been on every site and fixed some of them."

If you've been following all sides of this story, you may have read that his parents did not receive much cooperation from our Federal Government when trying to learn his whereabouts, which is very disturbing. He had reportedly booked a March 30 flight back to New York, but missed it because he had been detained by our military. The "spin" on the story is that they told him to get out, but I'm not buying that.

<snip>

This may explain what he was trying to do. Obviously doesn't explain what happened.

Cheers!

1. Well...I don't know about your sincere post about him and the link..but I
feel in my gut, that there's way much we DON'T know about Nick Berg.

It may take a long time for it all to leak out. But, thanks for this post on this. One more piece in the puzzle of who Berg was and why he was "snuffed."

2. Are We A Bit Touchy??? Sheesh...LOL
I agree, there's a lot about Mr. Berg that isn't know...but that doesn't seem to stop people here and on other sites from weaving tons of tinfoil.

People were curious about the tower work he and "his company" (he, himself and himself) did and why he would have gone to Iraq. I think this article sets that up nicely. I just posted something I saw on a website I surf across...if that's not sincere, guess I should send you some tinfoil, too.

4. I Still Don't Get The Connection...
with his "Baghdad partner"...or the one who claims he was the last to see Berg alive. I've seen some tinfoil pointing towards the Russian mafia, but now why would they be doing the CIA's or DOD's dirty work? (I know I'll get a ton of responses on this one, and I could speculate with the best of 'em on this one...Chechnya payback anyone??? Was this what Dubya meant when he saw the soul in Putin's eyes???)

My question is why he stopped working on tower sites. Finding someone to climb the 800 or 1500 feet and work on those things isn't easy, and having known "tower people", I could see where Berg saw this as both a challenge (which is was) and to be helpful (plus make a few bucks and some good referals). The government hasn't ever discussed what he did for them or why they let him go. Maybe someone reading this info has some more to add to the puzzle.

5. "Dubya meant when he saw the soul in Putin's eyes???)"
I heard Madeline Albright in an indepth interview about her book, her take on Putin was he was like an icecube, just a chillingly cold man.

8. In Their First Meeting...
Back in those innocent days of 2001...Putin came to visit the Pig Farm in Waco and Dubya claimed he saw the "soul in Putin's eyes"...that they "could do business together".

I've heard many compare Bush & Putin as due to their connections with the KGB and CIA. When I look at the man, I see someone who wouldn't think twice of stabbing his own mother, if it meant power...but then that's just my .02.

6. No tinfoil here...
...and to be quite honest, I am wondering what took some “crazed militants” (as the whore press dubs them), this long to do something like this.

Let’s play just pretend for a moment here. As much as we all hate Bush, suppose China had just invaded our country, hauled GWB off, then stood back and allowed our country fall into complete depths of chaos, despair and crime, and decided that their ways would now be our ways, siphoned off all our resources and money, divided it amongst their rich pals, and sold parts of them back to us at greatly inflated prices, and, to top it off, started a process to put some unknown person as a puppet leader in charge.

As peace loving as myself, and many Americans are, I doubt we’d miss an opportunity to put a hurtin’ on these invading infidels, and we'd probably do a lot worse than catch a couple of their citizens and do what was that video.

Food for thought

9. I've Played That Game As Well...
It's a very interesting exercize playing Devil's Advocate and switch roles here. I've question many a "patriot" as to what they would do if China or some other power invaded this country under the same ruse this regime did in Iraq.

Of course the "patriots" are all gonna go running out with their handguns and rifles and take on those tanks and high powered rifles...always works in the movies, doesn't it?

Once I was able to have an interesting discussion, on another board, about what people realistically would do in an occupation. Is there things in your job or lifestyle that could hamper or sabotage an invader? One person, who worked as a truck driver, suggested he'd make deliveries for the enemy, just not to where they want and when they want it. Another, a real estate agent talked about how they could crash property values that would tank the economy that would drain finances from the enemy. It was quite an interesting disussion and one that would be interested in comparing to how people are reacting right now in Iraq. The irony is we had this disucssion sometime in early 2002...a year before that oxygen thief in our White House and his evil cabal went and started this illegal and immoral invasion.
