Running a negative campaign on Arnold's inexperience, will not work
Edited on Mon Aug-11-03 03:16 PM by w4rma
It never has worked. I cannot think of a single campaign, ever, where this tactic was successful. Reagan was attacked for being inexperienced. Bush* was attacked for being inexperienced.

I think when folks hear that someone is an inexperienced politician, they are thinking: Great, someone who might tell it to us straight!

My suggestion on how to deal with this recall election would be to get Bustamante and Davis out there for some positive campaigning. Reintroduce them to the voters. Treat them like they are unknowns, because to many voters they are unknown.

And to attack Arnold, leak information about his womanizing past, any underhanded buisness dealings that he might have committed and any known positions on buisness that would add to corrpution.

Why does Arnold refuse to answer questions. What ideas of his is he afraid to tell the people of California? Why is he afraid to tell them? Is it because they are radical and extreme?

Target the the religious right and the religious left for information about his *many* personal problems. Tie his personal problems to Bush and the Republican Party so that folks will question the ethics of Bush and the Republican Party by association. Ask Republicans why they would support Arnold after the way they trashed Clinton for doing MUCH MUCH less. (Note to Clinton supporters: this could *help* Clinton's reputation if done well.)

The religious right will attack Arnold on his social liberalism, and since we are trying to promote social liberalism, we should ignore them. We can't do anything to stop them anyways.

Use synergy in attacking. Tie everything together. If everything is tied together, this also serves to make it easier for folks to remember these facts and questions.

What was the purpose and substance of the May 11, 2001 meeting with then-Mayor Richard Riordan, former junk bond king Michael Milken, and Arnold Schwarzenegger? Lawmakers should obtain the materials Ken Lay provided at that meeting.

1. And celebreties. It's going to take celebreties to take on a celebrety
Bustamante needs celebrety support. If he can't get celebrety support in California, we might as well write off this election, all together.

2. I doubt anything will work if the media keeps promoting Arnold
No one is going to know that there are any candidates other than Arnold running if the media has their way.

More Republican-loving Democrat-destroying media activism.

How can we possibly counter it?

I don't see a solution.

3. Exactly
Plent of proof of that here with the Clark support.

If democrats can't see the problem with no political experience you can be damn sure republicans don't.
