Is Osama bin Laden just a memory?
Edited on Thu May-20-04 12:13 AM by pinto
Seems like the attacks on the capital of corporate America, the World Trade Center, may fade into a past blurred by the Iraq quagmire.

The WTC towers were not only symbolic of our financial power in the world, they, lest we forget, were work day homes for thousands of Americans, Europeans, Asians, Africans, Middle Easterners, South Americans. Australians, and others. Many of them, well about 3,000 of them, died in the dual plane attacks. This remains no small matter.

We have been told on good intelligence that Osama bin Laden and his Saudi compatriots were responsible.

We have not addressed the 9-11 case, as a legal matter, for lack of suspects in custody...and we have not addressed the systemic nature of the conspiracy, in a classic RICO sense, for the lack of a transparent international effort.

America ought to be leading this fight.

The war in Iraq has not done anything to further the identification and apprehension of 9-11 suspects.

Latest trial info I've seen is a court martial of an American soldier for torturing an Iraqi prisoner.

This is not progress.

5. Bush believes in loyalty to his friends.
The Bushes and bin Ladens are long time Oil friends. I think the bin Ladens have requested that Bush not harm Osama, so that dude is safe as long as Dubya is in the White House.

6. Despite what Bush says...

Usama is one of the most important figures in relation to the fate of our country, in my opinion.

No American has forgotten this mans name or face, and if Kerry stomps Bush (by simply being quiet on foreign policy, as he has, which works since Bush is an idiot) much more than Usama will quickly fly back into the mainstream media, dead or alive. I say dead or alive b/c he had health problems before, so he might've up and died a while ago. And if he's still alive I think we caught him by now and he's being kept alive.

Although I might be biased, because I never bought the idea that Saddam Hussein, with his past life of opulence, would hide in the ground for 8 months.

8. For an illusion...
... he's done a damn fine job of killing people. Jesus, he's giving us a run for our money in that department.
