Bush Administration VS. Powell ????
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=578&e=6&u=/nm/20040520/ts_nm/iraq_usa_laboratory_dc">No Consensus on Iraq Bioweapons Labs -White House

QUOTE:
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - It remains unclear whether the CIA (news - web sites) was wrong about Iraq (news - web sites)'s purported prewar mobile biological weapons laboratories, the White House said on Wednesday, disputing a comment by Secretary of State Colin Powell (news - web sites).

White House spokesman Scott McClellan said it was still not known why Iraq had the rolling labs. They had been described in the lead up to the invasion of Iraq as part of an effort to build weapons of mass destruction.

"The latest that has been said by the intelligence community is that there is no consensus. There is disagreement on what the use of those biological laboratories were for," McClellan said at a briefing.

QUOTE:

Powell expressed regret on Sunday for having made claims in a U.N. Security Council speech now known to have been "inaccurate" and "wrong."

"When I made that presentation in February 2003, it was based on the best information that the Central Intelligence Agency (news - web sites) made available to me," Powell said on NBC's "Meet the Press."

"It turned out that the sourcing was inaccurate and wrong and, in some cases, deliberately misleading. And for that, I am disappointed, and I regret it," he said.

So did the White House just hang Powell out to dry?

1. not a smart idea for the white house
A vast majority of the American public trust Powell, and would put alot more trust in him than they would George Bush. If he takes his own stance on this and the White House hangs him out, it could be the final nail in the coffin for Bush.

3. You guys noticed that...
there is a growing number of GOPers that won't lie their ass off for Bush?

I thought that Powell was a tool until Sunday. He is actually showing some backbone and standing up against the turd in the white house. Now if more would just join in.

4. you call that a backbone?
If Powell had a shred of decency, he'd quit and immediately hold a press conference telling the truth about these gangsters.

But nooooooo. He'd rather go all passive-aggressive

.. he's placing his shots very carefully...

now, if he does it.... ohh... say 2-3 weeks BEFORE November 2nd...

SUPRISE!! OCTOBER SUPRISE!!!

8. I'm surprised how many people still expect Powell to be human
when he's proven he's one of them over and over.

5. Colin's Rubicon
Olbermann discussed this the other night. He noted the comments Powell regretting what he said at the U.N. and was wondering if Colin is about to leave the reservation once and for all.

We know there's no love lost between Colin and the PNAC'ers...and it's been reported that Powell won't be back if there's a first Bunypants administration (if that was ever possible) and feels burnt by the rigged intel. He's played "good cop" or tried to and has been played one time too many.

There was the discussion that Powell is more concerned with his legacy and political future and doesn't want either to go down with this regime. He's still rather popular and could become a media superstar if he did turn on the regime...especially before the election...which I highly doubt.

I think Powell's insulating himself from two things: the failure of the Iraq handover as well as the downfall of this regime. He, like McCain, are squaring up what the Repugnican party could be like without bush, chenney, de lay and the whole evil reich wing cabal.

6. Powell has no ground to stand on
His involvement in the My Lai massacre combined with his report to the UN last year make him a sick individual.

He can cop out all he wants, but he seems at home in this administration. According to himself, though, he is out of our government no matter who wins the election this year, and I thank my lucky stars for that.

10. Enabler
Powell knew that the info he put forth at the UN was bushit. Now he wants to distance himself from the NeoFascist losers. Too late.
