WITH GAS PRICES CONTINUING TO SOAR, DNC RE-LAUNCHES GrandOldPetroleum.com

"In the Tank", a DNC Research Special Report also attached.

Washington, D.C. -The Democratic National Committee re-launched GrandOldPetroleum.com today during a week of record gas prices, and on the cusp of the summer travel season. The retooled site features state-by-state information on the economic impact of rising gas prices as well as evidence of Bush's close ties to big oil companies and his broken promises to control costs. Visitors to the site can read how others are coping with the price hikes and share their own stories. The site was originally launched by the DNC during the 2000 campaign to educate voters on Bush's support of big oil corporations. The DNC is resurrecting the site today as a reminder of Bush's broken promises on gas prices and his refusal to stand up to his oil company cronies and protect working families.

Democratic National Committee Chair Terry McAuliffe issued this statement today:

"George W. Bush promised during the 2000 campaign to 'jawbone' his big oil buddies into lowering gas prices. Instead of results, Bush has ushered in the highest prices in history. Let's get the facts out there on the table. Let's take a look at not just the average price of a gallon of gas, but what extra costs average families are now faced to shoulder. Let's examine the close ties that both the President and the Vice President have to the multi-millionaires profiting from higher gas prices. If you take a look at GrandOldPetroleum.com you'll find this President's record of broken promises exposed and you will see how that record is hurting Americans."

To learn more about President Bush's broken promises, his failure to act on high gas prices, and his close ties to the oil industry, please visit www.GrandOldPetroleum.com
