Politicians put brush to canvas for charityAn art auction raised hundreds of dollars for three Ottawa daycares last night, thanks in part to original pieces donated by some big name painters: Martin, Harper and Layton.
Granted, the prime minister and two of the opposition leaders vying for his job may be more famous for their political work, but their artwork was the focus at the First Unitarian Congregation of Ottawa.

Paul Martin's painting consisted of his handprint, in Liberal red of course, in the middle of the white canvas. Art critic Melanie Scott called it "minimalism at its best." The painting sold for $270.

The two kids, the tulips -- what he's saying here is very obvious," she said. "This is how he thinks the world should be."Conservative leader Stephen Harper: tulips in front of the Parliament Buildings (which bear his initials - wtf?) Scott: It "tells me a lot about ego. You can tell he sees himself there at centre stage in the House of Commons."
