Who else thinks that "wax Bush" ad on AAR is idiotic?
Edited on Thu May-20-04 11:39 AM by Richardo
The whole excrutiating premise is a gardening metaphor, then they end with the obvious (and weak) 'personal grooming' pun.

I have no quarrel with the sentiment, but the execution blows.

1. I agree
Some of the comedy has been a little disappointing.

2. Do their checks to AAR bounce?
In broadcasting, that's pretty much the only question....

3. Yes! It's terrible - also "George W. you're fired"
But they haven't been playing that one as much.

11. I got a "George W., You're Fired" bumper sticker
after hearing that ad. The best ads are the annoying ones that you remember. And the sticker looks great. It has a back background and white lettering... looks great on a black car.

5. Sadly, I'd say 50% of what's on AAR is idiotic and annoying...
Oh, I know. We're not supposed to criticize AAR because it's just so peachy that we finally have a radio station that speaks to our needs.

Sorry, but 50% of what they do are supposedly humorous bits that just are not that funny. And I'm the target audience so I don't know who exactly finds some of that stuff funny.

To each their own I guess. I just have to turn it off whenever any of them do any of their shtick. And I used to stick around for the commercials just to support them but even those are insufferable any more.

9. Exactly....just BE funny....don't plan it.....
All the people they have as hosts are quick wits and have some great commentary on the topics they are discussing, and often times it's hilarious. They don't need to pad things with these planned bits.

6. AA is kinda embarassing at times
clearly, this is because they're not airing MY stuff - which is embarassing ALL THE TIME:

See? Aren't those commercials MUCH more embarassing?

8. How 'bout "Pluck Bush"
or "grab Bush by the roots and pull 'em out?"

10. I think "Wax Bush" and "Dubya, you're fired" are paid ads
Those are paid spots, not AAR satire.

The "Dubya, you're fired" ads are for a t-shirt maker and seller. I can't remember off the top of my head what the "Wax Bush" ad is for off the top of my head. I've heard it a million times, but I haven't had my coffee yet. I've spaced what the product was for the moment.
