My good news for the day.
Damn, I want my life back. I want to be happy without feeling guilty, I want my little business to get off the ground, I want to stop writing and calling a bazillion times to senators and congressmen who know they do not even have to answer, most of all I want to be able to sleep at night.

Ok, now that my griping is over. Last night I was talking to my builder friend. I have known him for years. He is an independant and I have listened to him accept Bush* then worry about Bush* and he has come to despise Bush* like the rest of us. He has gone from a small construction business of his own to working for a larger firm now as the General Contractor. He is out and about every day dealing with all the people you deal with in his job, LOTS of Bush* folks from NASCAR dads to the wealthy adding expensive additions on their mansions. He also has 3 crews that work under him. Last night I asked him how many of them still suport Bush*. He told me that he does not know anyone who will vote for Bush*, even those who voted for him before. He told me that the last months have worn away any good feelings they have had for him. He also told me they are firm with this. So add these folks to my cowboy friends from last weekend and NE Kansas is looking bluer all the time.

Thought I would share, we all need good news now and then. :hi:

Hope spelling in OK, my checker is not working

1. Perspective....coworkers still support *
Where I sit. Two still listen to Rush and Belling and Sykes and believe all the worlds problems are solved by getting rid of "tax and spend" democratcs cutting taxes ans reducing spending.

They still don't understand.

4. The propaganda
is so thick right now that it is hard. Do they listen to you at all? I think these people are listening to others and that is why they are changing. Perhaps I am just in a little enclave of people who listen but there were an awful lot of cowboys hanging their heads at the thought of what Bush* has done to this country. It seems like their national pride has been hurt and that certainly does not keep them behind the ones who have hurt it. I don't know what the difference is but we do need perspective so thanks.

3. Amazing
(Now, what kind of voting machines do you use there? )

The groups you name should be very hardcore Repug voters. This is truly amazing.

8. As to your first paragraph, you're good, that was grand
theft, stole the words-out-of-my-mouth and the thoughts haunting my mind, and I didn't even feel it LOL!

Guess it's cold comfort to know you're not alone- but sometimes I listen to ppl who STILL accept this war criminal pres. and wonder if it's ME who's crazy:( DU is of great comfort to me at times like that.

oh...and thanks for the good news, every little bit helps:)

9. Never wonder about your
sanity again. DU has helped me a great deal with that. This was Bush* country and it was very difficult until I found this place. My solace.

10. MuseRider - THANK YOU!
And Lins - welcome to DU - I thought the same thing. Muse - I want MY life back, too! It's become a 7-day-a-week obsession with me by now! And I, too, can't sleep at night. REALLY feeling sucker-punched in the last few weeks. I have also run into a few "recovering" republicans who've seen the light or are starting to see it. But it helps like nobody's business when you post stuff like this, and others do also. We need to hear as many of these as possible. We all are suffering from an emotional battering in the last four years. Longer than that, if you include what we endured during the rise of limbaugh/gingrich and the persecution of Bill Clinton. I am SO SO SO ready for this to end. Not sure it will, though, as long as bushco remains in place, the republi-CONS have all the marbles, and limbaugh is still walking free and being cloned all over the place.

Thanks for this. Thanks for the upbeat report from cowboy country. I wonder how many of them realize what a true poseur bush is - he doesn't even fit in cowboy country because he's scared of horses!

I, too, found a desperately-needed oasis here, and heck, I live in moderate-to-liberal West L.A. That's how bad it is - I mean, imagine being told by your daughter that the mother of a classmate regards me as extremely brave to drive up onto the school grounds with a Dean for America sticker in my back window! Here in "Norman Lear/Rob Reiner/Whoopi Goldberg country!"

Every bit helps. Especially now, when we DUers need each other - and this solidarity - even more. Gotta keep working.

And hi to you, too, Eloriel! Glad to see you back!

EYES ON THE PRIZE, GUYS!!!

XOXOXOXO!

11. Hey thanks calimary!
You are so right. Solidarity, Eyes On The Prize. We do not need to be in lock step to be solid but they do and that makes us much stronger in the long run. I agree, we will not be able to relax or feel comfortable as long as things are this way but if we can somehow reinstate the Fairness Doctrine we just might begin to make a bit of headway. I think, for me, hearing the crap on Judy Woodruff yesterday was the icing on the cake. I do not know why I listened, it was certain to fill me with anger, but I did. After all the shit happening and the world teetering because of Bush* we just had to discuss the "Frenchness" of John Kerry. WTF?

Stay brave (that is so funny). I still have my Kucinich sticker, my HRC sticker and am waiting for my "Frodo lost. Bush has the ring." sticker and so far the only thing I had trouble with was someone keying my Evolve Fish. It seems you CAN mess with Bush* around here but not religion. :hi:
