Thank you Nancy Pelosi
I think more politicians need to stand up and state the truth about our emperor's new clothes, and refuse to be cowed by the Republican attach machine.

"Pelosi did not back down, even when asked if her comments would undermine Bush's abilities as commander in chief.

"His activities, his decisions, the results of his actions are what undermines his leadership, not my statement," Pelosi said. "My statements are just a statement of fact."

2. That's OK
As long as she doesn't back down, let them have that headline. She's saying the most damaging thing that can be said of this or of any administration. And she's telling the truth.

6. Trying to win an election
:eyes: If you can't kick ass, you shouldn't be minority leader. I like Daschle, but he's obviously too preoccupied to hold the leadership role now.

10. Good Point!
If he can't be completely sure of holding on to his own seat in the Senate, why is the leader of the whole minority? I would think a party leader in a house of Congress would be someone who was so safe in his seat that he could focus on the macro issues, and not worry about the distractions of re-election. Think DeLay! Think he worries about being re-elected in his district? Didn't think so! Same with Frist.

4. Delay claims she is endangering the troops
Edited on Fri May-21-04 08:45 AM by NewYorkerfromMass
This is another stock answer to criticising Bush:

"...She apparently is so caught up in the partisan hatred for President Bush that her words are putting American lives at risk,'' said House Majority leader Tom DeLay, R-Texas. "This nation cannot afford the luxury of her dangerous rhetoric.''

Countered one Democratic leader: "Frankly, that's McCarthyism.''

7. Well, McCarthy is back in vogue now, isn't he?
At least according to Ann Coulter... I'm sure at least a few other RepubliCONs feel the same way.
